Console Pad Rattling/Chattering? Here's One Fix.
Snip off a 1/2" of 3/4" shrink wrap, push it around the latch mechanism, and use a heat gun to mold it to the latch. The increased thickness as well as the insolation the wrap provides will eliminate the rattle/chatter--at least it did on my car.

I've also used the felt with the sticky tape on one side from the arts/crafts store for things like that - like the tech article on making the ac/heat vents stay in place. I've used that sticky felt in alot of places.
