shift ****

Can anyone tell me how to remove the shift **** on a 1984 Camaro

Yes it is auto & yes it has the ball ****.

Pull straight up on the buttun. It should come out easily. Looking down in the **** you will see a circlip around the shaft. Using circlip pliers that have points to fit inside the little holes on the ends of the circlip, you compress the clip allowing it to freely be removed. Careful not to lose it. The ball should now pull straight up and off. Note the slot or slots that the ****'s tabs are sliding off of and make sure to replace the same way. Voila!
