Fuel gauge level
Hi all,
This is easy question which I feel stupid I don't know the answer.
Is the fuel gauge level suppose to go down to empty when I turn off the car?
Thanks!

Re: Fuel gauge level
When the car is off it's an unpowered circuit. The sender in the tank varies signal to the gauge based on the fuel level, but only when power is applied. Since this is an electric gauge, it can't read anything with power removed (accurately). I've had some that stay put while off, and some that drop to E while off, I've even had one that went higher after I shut it off.

Re: Fuel gauge level
I would assume this to be true. The one in my car is electrical, so the changing difference in potential as the power is removed would make it behave a little odd. Same with all the gauges in a 3rd Gen. except the cable driven speedo's. As long as they reset when power is applied I think it wouldn't be anything to worry about, unless of course they are inaccurate.
