Full 4th gen interior swap into 3rd gen Camaro?

I'm planning out my Camaro build for next year and I'm currently working on the interior plan. I honestly prefer the interior of the 4th gens over that of the 3rd gens and was wondering if it would be feasible to do a complete interior swap. I know that some might consider this sacrilegious to completely swap the interior but I'm not sure if I care. I'm planning on completely stripping the interior no matter what so I see no reason why when I put a new one in I cant just put in the different interior. Thanks for the information!

This has been discussed a ton on here, if you search you should find some answers.

That being said. Dash, counsel and seats are fairly easy. The door panels are a bit of a challenge to get to look correct. Needs some fiberglass work IIRC. The plastic pieces aren't really going to go in without a fight. The interior shape of the cars are too far apart.

I did a search and I got partial answers but nothing relating to a full swap. What im really interested in is the dash, door panels, and console. I could live with the stock panels if its too much of a pain in the ***. While im currently planning on 4th gen seats I may change that later on. what difficulties would I have with the carpet kit? I'll stick with a 3rd gen headliner but with the 4th gen console I'm not sure about the carpet kit.

Headliner won't fit door panels can be easy but do have to be modified and molded to fit dash console and seats are easy not sure what you mean by carpet kit? 3rd gen carpet will do just fine if yours is worn replace it with new or used 3rd gen carpet

That's what I'm thinking, 3rd gen headliner + carpet kit, 4th gen Dash, Console, seats, and door panels.

Many members have done this and there are complete threads about this. For instance the Camaro member of the month has a complete fourth gen interior, PM him and ask for links or pictures or advice. I do wonder if you know how many hours of work are involved in doing a complete swap..... Everything has to be rewired and cut to fit, no way around it. People loosely throw around the phrase "winter project" but I am guessing that this is a true winter project. For instance I made a new gauge cluster with aftermarket gauges and between making the new gauge cluster plate and wiring them in I have around twenty hours in it. You're doing an entire interior, do you really have the time for a 100 hour project? If so good luck.

No matter what I do I plan on pulling the seats out, replacing headliner, door panels, carpet kits, center console, and possibly dash, the question was whether or not I was going to put back in 3rd gen or 4th gen, I expect the rebuild of this car to take at least 6 months if it all goes, smoothly. which it never does so Im estimating at least 8 months of hard work before this car is ready to roll.

8 months is a lil more than it would take for a interior swap if you do your research, get your materials together and are handy with electrical and fabrication should take you a month if that

Re: Full 4th gen interior swap into 3rd gen Camaro?

I was saying 8 months for the whole thing, I'm thinking 2 months for the interior depending on how much time I can spend on it...

Look for the user Shroom on here. He did something similar (the RIGHT way), and has it all documented on his website. It's way more work than you think. =)

Well I'm not doing mine till next fall, saving the money to do the whole car ( and buy it, have an 86 fbird right now) but I would love to see pics of it as it goes along, any advice you can give on the door panels would be appreciated. I hear they are the difficult part of the swap.

Re: Full 4th gen interior swap into 3rd gen Camaro?

I have already done the easy 4th gen seat swap, and my firebird's center console is worn badly. My question is: is the 4th gen console a simple bolt in process or is there any modifications needed to install it the right way? Thanks!
