LTX and LSXPutting LT1's, LS1's, and their variants into Third Gens is becoming more popular. This board is for those who are doing and have done the swaps so they can discuss all of their technical aspects, including repairs, swap info, and performance upgrades.

ask or search around on the alternative port efi intake board. I think a few of them LT1 intake swappers are using -an fittings and i think that sucks because you can't swap rails from another LT1 if you ever need to but it would work. One or more LT1 engine swappers here are using just fuel injection hoses and clamps but that may have more of a risk of having a leak.
I made my own, you can get the ends that fit the LT1 fuel rail for about $10 a piece, some FI rubber fuel line about $3 a foot. There are several places that can crimp the ends on for you, and find some that fit the hardlines that come from the tank and you'll be set.
I used barb fittings and the stock 4th gen plastic lines. heated the plastic line and inserted the barb fitting. we had to cut the plastic to remove one of the fittings one time, they aren't going anywhere.
Klortho, what would some examples of places that would crimp lines? I tried going that route before but the local clowns at the auto stores/tractor shops knew nothing. I even called up a couple speedshops/raceshops that were out-of-town.
Any part numbers for the ends or any specific way to find them?
I like the melting the plastic lines idea but my parts car is already gone.. but that does sound like a reasonable option and I'm sure I could go get the lines cheap. Did you have to bend those lines much or did they fit well stock shape?
I'm not keen on the double clamps FI hose setup, but I will use it if I'm desperate enough!
I wish I could still buy these suckers done.. Would help for the overall clean install.
You need two sizes, 3/8 and 5/16, O'Rileys has them in those sizes. I've been running the claped FI line for almost 5k miles, no leaks whatsoever. It's only a temp setup until I can get a full set of lines made.

If you use FI clamps and the proper barbs it wont be a problem. I have mine Temp. set up the same way and if your carefull it will work fine. Im just waiting untill i can get braided lines as well.
This article explains in detail of how to convert it. I ordered my lines from Pure Choice and they worked out great. I ordered mine a little bit long, but that's ok. They were very friendly and helpful with getting me the right kit and fittings. The already have a kit set aside for the LT1 in our cars. Pretty cool. Highly recommend them.
Geeez, for $100 you could goto a NAPA or somewhere that makes up hoses and probably get a set of rubber hoses with the right quick disconnects made for 30-40 bucks.
I'm on a budget but didn't want to skimp on fuel lines.
I think John @ LT1 intake (must have sold it) was originally around $95 for rubber lines.
Scott @ LT1 itnake (new owner or something) is selling me braided steel lines for $135 shipped.. he's been very helpful and I'm glad I was able to get ahold of him.

the O'Rileys here said they didn't have anything like those ends. do you know the part number?
No mods at all. Hooked right up to the stock lines and the quick connect fittings hooked right up to the lt1 fuel rails. Very nice quality lines as well.
i called pure choice and they want to know what type of fittings are on the stock fuel lines. i'm pretty new at pluming stuff, but he said something about wether its flared or o-ring....any ideas? i have a '88 firebird w/ 2.8 mpfi...5/16 return and 3/8 feed line. i would take a wrench to them, but right now it's still my daily driver.
well, i had some spare time at work yesterday, so i went out and took one of the lines off. obviously, o-ring fittings use o-rings, and i don't know what a flared fitting should look like, but mine uses an o-ring...it also flares out on the end, so i'm ammuming it's an o-ring fitting.
i ordered some from pure choice...they knew what i needed...just needed the stock fitting type. they are already here...just at the fed-ex location in town (missed the delivery ). but i ordered them on tuesday, so it's pretty fast shipping. they were $99.95
Im building a LT1 and so far have elderbrock preformer head and elderbrock preformer cam, I want to know what size injectors will fit this set up best? thanks, for all the GREAT info in ALL these treads...
Yep, and they also released an air-gap intake in both LT1 and LT4 port configuration. But you won't like it.
Released, but nobody has seen one show up at their door yet. Rumor is they won't ship them out until the edelbrock LT4 heads are ready. The LT4 intake by edelbrock is to accept the 7777 race gasket, which means it should have bigger ports than the stock LT4 intake. The air-gap might suck because it may take away plenum volume. Who knows, nobody has seen one yet on a LTX.
on my ls1 i got the factory fuel line, cut off the metal quick release clamp that was going to the factory fuel rail, and i had a hose/fitting place crimp on a high pressure hose, came out great and looks factory!! i only spent like 20 bux for the hose and crimping... not much considering...
yes elderbrock does make the heads for the LT1. I dont know how it will turn out, but I will soon find out. Im gonna get it dyno'ed once its together. will let you know what it does.
So anyone have recommendations on the Fuel injectors?
I put a 94 LT-1 (383) into my 1983 Z28 Camaro. I swapped out the hard fuel lines and gas tank out of a 1989 GTA Trans am I parted out. I got 2 quick disconnect #6 an connectors from one speed shop that slip right on the fuel rail barbs, and 2 connectors for the 89 GTA hard line ends, which end in a o-ring, and ran about 7' total feet of #6 braided stainless to connect it all. Cost about $100.00 bucks, and looks sweet!
