Howdy,
I've attached my dyno chart, Blue is with the TPI intake and Red is a 'Cold Air Intake' run (removed the tpi intake). 1998 LS1 stock, with 2001 Exhaust manifolds, M6 trans.
Damn thats a huge difference from the airbox. Is it gutted or completely stock?

I don't think it would matter if it was gutted or not, you're still trying to suck the same amount of air through a little tiny hole compared to a big ole hole.
Not a very good photo, but it gives you an idea of the intake that i'm talking about.
It is with the baffles removed and K&N filters that have about 2.5k miles on them since the last cleaning. The intake has a smaller diameter than the ls1 maf, and has some restrictions inside of it as well. It doesn't have the cross-sectional area that is needed.
Damn, that is alot. I wonder if some tuning would net even more HP. Nice job.
I was gonna do this type of test at the drag strip, but never put together any type of CAI lol. Now this will be the next thing I'll do to the car. What did you use btw?
I don't see the attached picture. Was it removed from the post? Thanks!
Howdy,
My webhosting companies' server went down and they lost a lot of my content (their backups didn't work). It will probably be a few weeks before i get all of the photos back online, and even then the links will most likely not work.
I had a stock tpi dual snorkle/cold air intake with K&N filters, and the baffles removed.
It made 17hp and 13ftlbs more with the maf open than it did with the intake.
I haven't made a new intake yet, just been driving it. I have a plan on the new intake, but i want to fab up something for fun and not go the traditional tube off to the side aftermarket intake. It's on my list of things to do
I like the camaro design, so i would like to keep it. Its just designed for a 245 horse motor.
I have an aftermarket hood, and there is more space. between the hood and intake, then the stock hood. I took a heat gun to the area where it necks down and looks like it would flow pretty well now. I will smooth it out and paint it if it makes good power.
IM working on opening the other major restriction where the boot connects to the intake. It necks down a lot there. The boot is around 3.5 id, but the box necks down to 2.5 on one side, not good.
