Ok, I've done some searching and it sounds like I either need bracket from the 93 Z28 or I need a whole TB from a 93? Which is it, my engine came out of a 97 Trans AM.
search for my replies from me on this subject. You need a 93 throttle bracket. You need a 93 tv cable. You need a 93 throttle body OR a have a stud bolted to your tb. Holley makes a stud kit for about $6, this holley part can be found at o'reileys. You need a 4l60e vss and reluctor and you need to install the vss and reluctor on the tranny. Also need a TCI lock-up kit for a 700r4, can be bought through summitracing.com

hey bud did you ever get this to work well????? as u know i kinda gave up on it and went with the t56. i know u were heading in the right direction

Oh yes, it works. The LT1 still has a knock retard problem though, I even changed the opti, after months of looking over about everything - probably just going to end up zero-ing out the knock sensor. The car runs great otherwise.
One extra step I might take is to put in a 93 4l60 governor in the 700r4 tranny. I have to research that more though but I think that governor will let it shift at a higher rpm at WOT. Right now at WOT I think the shifts are around 5600 rpm.
Ok, what does all that stuff cost, and how hard is it to install? Would I be better off getting a manual trans from a 97? What is the trans model on the 97 manual? Can I avoid all the vss kit etc by getting a 93 TB or would I need that either way?
93 Tb bracket - $13
93 TB brand new - $250-300 OR Holley Stud Kit - $6
93 TV cable - $20
95 4l60e VSS and Reluctor - $30???
TCI Lock up kit for 700r4 - $76
How difficult to install? The last two above will be hard to do. Pound off your old speedometer reluctor and pound on the 4l60e one. I also figured out a way to add a relay to the tci kit circuit so I didn't even have to drop the transmission pan. Out of that whole $76 kit, I'm only using the vacuum switch.
I do recommend the T56 over the 700R4. The only reasons I kept my 700R4 was that the tranny was rebuilt and I got the tranny for almost nothing. I will put in a T56 someday.
problem with the t56 is its a manual. I would think it would be crazy hard to convert my auto to a manual... Maybe I should just get a 4l60e and call it done, save the headach of installing the vss kit and things. then all I would need is the tv cable. right...
yeah, but a lot of people on this website have done the t56 swap. Its documented pretty good I think. Its not like you would be totally in the dark. I'm looking into the T56 because I think it would be smarter in the long run. Example: Blow out 2nd gear in an auto and you have to have the whole tranny redone, blow out 2nd gear in a manual - just replace that gear. Another example: my brother went through 3 4l60e's in 3 months with a stock LT1, and 2 of the 4l60e's were rebuilt.
The auto to manual conversion is easier done than it looks. 4th gen pedal assembly, cut the hole in the floorboard, bore the hole for the master cylinder and get a Spohn T56 swap crossmember and that's it.
And if your motor is a '97....save yourself a headache and do the OBDI swap on it.
Ok to make my 700r4 work I need a tb bracket. I found 2 and they both look different. below are the links. which one is the right one... or can someone give a link to the right one??

1. is this kit needed for use with a 700r4 behind a '93 LT1?
2. if so, wouldn't it be possible to make it yourself with the right supplies using only a vacuum switch?

1. No, the 93 LT1 with the 93 computer won't need it.
2. Yes, all I'm using from the Kit is the vacuum switch. Then I wired up a relay to do the same function as the part they supplied to go into the 700r4. I'll try to find the vac switch just by itself, through an electronic parts supplier, to save money for everyone else in the future.
The vac pressure switch is World Magnetics PSF101. Its kind of wierd part. I'm not seeing any electronic distributors have it, it has to be ordered directly from World Magnetics.
Want part no. 8061-???, and thats all I know. You would have to call them and tell them you want 8-10Hg for pressure. I dont know if they would even bother to make just one though.
I am putting a LT1 in a 89 camaro that had a 305 TBI in it. I am buying the parts now to complete the swap. I read in this thread that it is better to change to OBD1 instead of OBD2. Which is more cost effective and easier to do? SO far all i have is the computer out of a 97 Z28 LT1. Im looking to get a harness, been watching ebay. but its unclear which way i should go with this......any help will be greatly used. Thanks

Obdi. If you start having problems, you can get a scanner program for your pc, hook your pc up to the LT1 PCM and see what the sensors are doing. Cables cost $90, $45 if you build them yourself but not recommended unless you can solder as good as an electronics technician like me. Email tunes cost $60, Tunercat for OBDI i think costs around $100 but you should still be able to get a free trial. TTS datamaster(scanner program) costs $200 but there is a trial version available. OBDII prices for this stuff cost a lot more and i'm not even sure if scanner programs exist for obdii LT1's.
If you don't want to program yourself, you can send your pcm to madz28.com or pcm4less.com and they will program/tune it for around $100. You have to send it through the mail.
I have a 1992 camaro with the 5.0li TBI and I also have a lt1 motor out of a 95 caprice police packageand i have a few questions.Should the ODB 1 system should work with lets say a LT1 out of a 95 Caprice Police Package? Also, what do i need so i can use my 700R4 trans with the lt1 from the 95 caprice police package motor. If anyone is an expert or has done it I could really use some advice.

This is what you will need to get the 700R4 to work.
In the end you would better off finding a 4l60E for it. And the OBD 1 will work with the 95
