LT1 power steering resevoir lines

Where did you mount it and how did you do the lines? Mine are leaking and i can't make them stop! I mounted my resevoir on the coolant tank and then extended the feed line by using a plastic piece. I couldn't find a rubber elbow to do it for me. Its leaking everywhere and it needs to get something different than what I have. The pump was sucking the stock 5/8" line closed when I turned the steering wheel due to the complex bends involved.

Re: LT1 power steering resevoir lines

I used the original power steering cooler line, had it cut and had some ends put on by a local hose manufacturer, then made a mount out of aluminum angle

This pic doesn't really show the bracket, but you can get an idea

Re: LT1 power steering resevoir lines

Both of the lines that attach to the resevoir are just screw clamped on mine. Yours sounds different.

Are you still using rubber lines? I'll try to post a better picture of what mine looks like.

Re: LT1 power steering resevoir lines

I had mine on a bracket that was bolted to one of the strut tower bolts. Worked pretty good for a while.

My new location for the PS res is right next to the radiator where a passenger side battery would be and mounted on a L bracket. I moved the battery in the trunk and the stock coolant tank is removed. For the lines coming off of the PS res, I used i think 5/8" hydraulic hose and maybe 1/2" hydraulic hose, both custom length held on by hose clamps.

The high pressure line is a 95 LT1 caprice line that was bent very carefully several times. It took forever to bend it right but only cost $35. Z28R I C E R sells or used to sell custom braided ps lines but they run somewhere around $100.

I can get pics of my new PS setup but it won't be til this weekend.
