My solution is to sell the engine and get an '01+ From my research the only way to get a T56 to bolt up to '99-'00 LQ4 is to use the newer, shorter, crank and take the spacer out. I've been doing a lot of my research on performancetrucks.net and from my understanding is that a 4L60E won't bolt up to that motor with the longer crank..only a 4L80E..that's probably only for truck applications as SheldonZ28 has one.

Re: Planning on an LQ4 Swap --Suggestions?

So I got some 243 LS6 heads, and I have the LS6 intake I just have to assemble the heads, I also got patriot dual gold springs... next on the list is a cam... I have seen that the TR224 is the way to go, I called Thunder Racing and they said that is what they recommend for around 400rwhp. Next up is the trans, or headers... I just wish there was an alternative to $800 for the pair. Also I need the front accessories, but I want to get the motor complete before I worry about that.... any word on what trans to use? 4l60e? anyone know of a good place to get one?

Re: Planning on an LQ4 Swap --Suggestions?

Yeah the TR224 is a pretty goof proof cam. Theres better out there now but its a tough cam to beat for all around driving. I was expecting it to be lumpy but it idles practically as smooth as stock and im on a 112 separation. I'd probably gone for the reverse split 111 sep if I could do it over again but minor quip. I like that patriot package though its pretty sweet all around.

Yeah... do you know about the trans? or how to make a 4l60e work with a 99 or 00' LQ4?

Re: Planning on an LQ4 Swap --Suggestions?

I have read a few things but I dont really recall. I remember seeing something about using a 700R4 stall and a different flex plate but I really dont know if it was for the application your asking about. Sorry man. This has to be over at LS1tech somewhere. If you find it post up a link please

Re: Planning on an LQ4 Swap --Suggestions?

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=723552
Here is a link on how to bolt up a lt1 trans... I might do that but from what I have read I believe One can use the standard LSX 4l60e on a LQ4, for the simple fact that the 4l80e's and 4l60e's are basically the same except for the internals...
So I might end up getting a LT1 4l60e, but right now I know of a LS1 4l60e for 450 I might get

Re: Planning on an LQ4 Swap --Suggestions?

So I believe tamatt was right, I have to get a newer LQ4 if I want to use the 4l60e... So right now I am on the lookout for a low mileage LQ4/LQ9 shortblock...

For sure, there is a guy that has an 05 lq4 and tranny complete for 1200, If I can talk him into just selling the engine I will be selling my Engine... I would like to sell it complete, but if I find a short block for cheap enough I will sell it cheap

Re: Planning on an LQ4 Swap --Suggestions?

So I picked up an LS1 complete with harness and all accessories, no ecm tho... but here is a pic of it. (we tore it down to short block... have 243s with patriot dual golds waiting for it when I get the gaskets and ARP bolts)

Also just spent a grand at Thunder Racing
-TR 224/230/112 $390
-Cam Gasket set $86
-ARP Head Bolts $147
-LS2 Timing Chain $46
-Comp Push Rods $133
-B&M Trans Cooler $100
-Head Gaskets $50

Now I have to eat Top Romen until I get paid again, then it's time for a torque converter, and then the $800 headers...

The guys at Thunder Recommend a 3500-3600 stall from Precision Industries (Vigilante) but new they are 740 bux...

I still need

ECM
Headers
Cutouts/dumps
TQ Converter
Swap Mounts
4l60e Xmember
Ported LS6 Oil Pump
Fuel Regulator
Fuel line adaptors
Throttle Cable
Y-pipe
Dyno Tune
4th gen rear
SFC's
New Top
Paint

Yikes hahaha

Re: Planning on an LQ4 Swap --Suggestions?

Just got everything in except for the tranny cooler and the ls6 ported oil pump... I have started to take out the old TBI/700r4, should have that out and the LS1 assembled with new cam/heads/oil pump/pushrods/LS2 chain, and have it turn key buy this weekend I think, Then I have to get the converter as soon as I get paid... I can't decide between Yank or Vigilante. Will have pics once that motor is out and the LS1 is complete again, hopefully we will do a test fit soon!

Since I plan on doing a similar swap, I'd like to verify this (hope I'm not thread jacking since it is related). When using the L92 heads, I must also use the L76 intake? Is this a decent intake?
