LTX and LSXPutting LT1's, LS1's, and their variants into Third Gens is becoming more popular. This board is for those who are doing and have done the swaps so they can discuss all of their technical aspects, including repairs, swap info, and performance upgrades.

Re: My 1983 Z28 H.O. gets LS1/T56 transplant (Write up and pics.)
So when doing the LS1 swap if you use a 97 dash and 4th gen tank, then it all just wires up real easy? the swapped dash looks soo sick but looks too hard for an amateur. How do you mount the new dash to the 3rd gen spots?

I used the dash from a 98-02 Trans AM which uses the signal wire from the LS1 PCM to operate most of the gauges. In order to get the fuel gauge to work, I had to run the wires from the fuel sending unit to the PCM first, then the PCM would send the info to the dash through the signal wire. It’s not too difficult as long as you keep everything organized and follow the 4th gen schematics.
TPI TERR on this board completed my dash swap so I would post in his build thread for more info, he’s also getting the HVAC and AC to work with the 4th gen dash.

Sweet looking car. How are you going to get the car smogged now. I'm waiting to get a garage before I start my swap, but I thought I was going to have to do a basic LS1 swap, take it to the smog referee, then do a head and cam package and LSX swap headers after it was smog "blessed." Just curious how you're doing it.

Performance and reliability alone is well worth it specially since LS1 are becoming easier to obtain at reasonable prices. I have my eyes set on an LS3 with a nice TVS2300 blower on top.

My bro(TPI TERROR) has all the emissions compliant set up, so as soon as he gets his OK by the referee I'll follow. Shouldn't be a problem since we kept the EVAP on the fuel tank and the rest of the emission stuff. As far as my cam, its only a 224/224 cam which has passed the sniffer once properly tuned.
