91 Z28 Project.

Ok original TPI 350 is out, k-member is out, also front suspension.

In went the new chrome molly k-member ( bolted right up no problems ) A-arms, front end rebuild kit, front coil over conversion ( pro tour ), complete poly bushings, engine harness out ( sent to get worked on ).

Next step, wait for harness, install that, install transmission ( 6L90E ) with G8 shifter ( manual mode option ) , custom made cross member with torque arm ( thanks Steve at Spohn ).

Then start rear suspension, LCA, coil over conversion, pan hard bar..... Basically everything, LS1 tank, ls1 Brakes, sub frame connectors.

Then finally take the car to get it tuned, and hope to hit 10's and get 25mpg with 2.93's in the back.

Specs, 4th gen block 6.0L/L92 heads ( 07 Silverado 2500 donor ), completely forged, cammed, and head work, built for boost, supercharger TVS 1900, 6L90E.

A problem that may come up is fuel, and.......... nothing money can’t fix.

Big thanks to Spohn for supplying the parts, Complete chrome molly everything, custom made tranny cross member witch will be complete when I measure it up and send it back to him for modification.

I have to say, I am happy how Steve took care of me his competion was whack,

STEVE thanks buddy.

Sounds like a fun build! It's always nice to tear out/replace everything all at once.

What rearend do you plan on going with?

6L90E has a 4.02 first gear, will feel like 3.73's or maybe 4.10's

wow, that's wild! I just did the math and my T56 with 4.10s would be equivalent in final gearing to your 6L90E with 2.77s! I wonder if GM did that because it drastically reduces driveshaft RPMs.

That is going to haul a$$.
The more of these 6.0l swaps I see it's starting to make me want to sell the
LT1 and hit the little truck motor.

Re: 91 Z28 Project.

007, nice work. I'm hoping to order the kmember and spring perch a-arms soon. Also good to hear "in with no problems". Alot of people seemed to have problems at some point bolting that unit in. I haven't to date had any problems with the 5 Spohn products I've put on my chassis (SFC,LCA,rear solid sway bar, adj.torque arm, TKO xmember).

Keep the pics comin when that LSX goes in!

ya i thought about it also that it wont bolt up, but then i said to myself, this isnt new it should have been corrected by now if their was a problem, plus its built with a jig, so all are the same size, shape, dimension, measurments, plus if something like this wouldnt bolt right up, then their might be something wrong with the frame.

I had a small dent on the frame, thought it wouldnt bolt up, but it did, wheels lined up, coil overs are on, blah blah blah, lets just say some experts where telling me nothing like this bolts right up, i must say i thought the same, but it did, i suggest you go with Spohn.

Re: 91 Z28 Project.

at this point, only problams i see that might come up is the 6L90E trannsmission. The G8 Shifter, and fuel. Other then that everything was a direct bolt up.

I didnt have to compress the springs to get the front coil overs installed.

I just had to modifiy the monroe struts to acept the spring perch ( aka ujustable part ). Thats about it as far as modification goes.

Im sure more mods will come up, A/C, shifter, and emmissions crap.

Re: 91 Z28 Project.

I have some idea. I've done alot of research into different build ideas and I have a fair idea of price of the aftermarket pieces you need for the swap. ]
Should be a really fun car when it's all said and done.
