ls1 swap weight?

How much weight will I gain or loss swaping in an ls1? Then if was planning on adding a bmr k member and was wondering how much of a benefit you see? Is it even worth buying for the weight savings? I'll be running prostars at the track so that will lightin up some rotating weight.

Thanks
Dennis

The LS1 weighs about 100 pounds less than an iron SBC.

The tubular front stuff weighs about 10-30 pounds less than stock, from what I've gathered. I'd accept correction there.

The rest depends upon what else you leave off or add on.

Re: ls1 swap weight?

Just by going to our tubular K-member you will loose 30# if you go to a coilover setup in the front the weight loss would be even greater.

Here is a link to the page where these products can be found

Re: ls1 swap weight?

I'm relatively sure that a true LS1 swap is worth 130 to 140lbs just for the motor. Do a tubular crossmember, coil overs, hood, and Baer brakes - that would be another 75 to 90 lbs.
