Hey, Im wondering what it would take to swap an LQ4 out of my 3/4 ton Silverado into a third gen Camaro, preferably an 87-90 IROC. As far as doing the swap is it similar to an LS1 swap? would I require basically the same things as I would for an LS1 swap, IE engine mounts and that sort of thing. I would have all accessories and what not from my truck. I would be, however looking to mount it to either a T56 or a built WC T5, instead of the 4l80E.
Can anyone point me to a list of things needed to do this swap?
i'm working on this swap right now, but haven't got real far. i got the tpi 5.0 out of the way, and i have the motor ready to mock up hopefully tonight or tomorrow. read the sticky again..... and again....... and again. everytime i read it i learn a little more and get a little more comfortable with what all needs to happen. i hope by tonight i know how much the oil pan hangs down by under the k-member. i left my k-member stock, and i plan to fabricate up brackets to retain the third gen a/c. also the intake not fitting has been shown in another thread, on a camaro. the throttle body sticks out a couple inches i think. search and search and read a lot, and it shouldn'e be too hard. good luck....
i meant the intake off the lq4. there was some discussion that the real issue was the alternator, but i htink i saw a pic somewhere of the lq4 intake and it wouldn't fit with the stock hood. i think i'm going with the ls6 intake. the lq4 tb was dbw anyway, ad i didn't want to mess with that
