Pulled the motor and trans shortly after and heres where im at now.
So far i swaped in the 4th gen fuel tank and have my fuel lines ran almost all the way up to the front of the car, finished that off using 6an braided stainless hose and russell fittings.
swapped in a 3.42 4th gen posi rear (painted with POR15), lakewood LCA's, stock torque arm, AAM diff cover, UMI adjustable PHB, new shocks, sspension techniques rear sway bar, Drop Zones, and new brakes.
This past weekend i sand blasted the front cradle and control arms. did the A/C notch, and installed poly bushings and new ball joints, then painted it all up with POR15.
The motor i started with came out of a burnt 2002 firehawk. EWW
tore it all down and went through it. had 29,770 miles on it. had the heads milled, ported, and cleaned up. installed patriot golds with titanium retainers. cylinders all looked good. installed some ARP pro series rod bolts, melling HV oil pump, double roller timing set, custom ground mid 230's duration cam on a 110LSA, all new gaskets, new front accessories, ls6 intake, truck coils taylor 10.4 wires, etc and it was good as new again! mated with a 02 t56 out of a ws6 trans am. got the whole setup stuffed in the car with an aluminum driveshaft and some hawks headers.

front end was put back together with new struts and dropzones as well. that leaves me with where im at today. have lots more to do and its tough to get it all done living 4 hours away from where the car is at.
planning on a custom 2.5" y-pipe with flowmaster merge and i have a TSP rumbler catback with some nice tips for the car. plans are to paint it Navy Blue Metallic like the color we sprayed under the hood. Hopefully i will have much more to update as the future weekends come!

My plans for the interior are to keep all the original console/dash. going to swap in the iroc 145 speedo cluster, all black components, 2 guage a-pillar, and im going to custom fit a set of black leather GTO buckets in (hope they fit).
them is pricey imo, hows the fit? are they vband flange?
They are$$$ but honestly the quality of the hawks headers are very very nice. im definitly impressed with how well they fit. they are slip fit connectors. v-band would be nice but there not. headers i got with hawks bolts and gaskets. the bolts looked like stock manfold bolts and the gaskets were GM. Motor mounts fit nicely too!
they are very nice, i had made some 1 3/4 for previous swap. with vband flange. 3.5 collector. making some budget oriented this time aound, 1 5/8 but its hard for me to not put vband flange on anything. when building turbo hotparts, it is a given. i just got used to it, thats all i use on my exhaust. and so easy to remove. slip fit is sometimes hard to pull apart without the tool.
Have you used the Skulte x-member before? I was looking at one from Spohn, but I want one with ample exhaust clearance.
first time i've ever used any of his parts. it was a nice piece. i got it to fit without any mods, but it was a really tight fit. the holes probably should have been slotted a little more.
also noticed my trans is pretty darn tight up against the bottom of the trans tunnel. im not wondering if i were to use a shorter trans mount if it would give me anymore clearace. using a energy suspension poly trans mount currently.
I love that color with the Y2K wheels. I'd love to pick up some Y2K's myself. Great looking swap, and quick too, I started mine in February I think and havent gotten anywhere near that much done, although I dont have a lot of time or money to blow.

If you used spacers you could lower the tranny a bit, but at the cost of exhaust and ground clearance. Let me know how it works out.
havent updated this thread for awhile so i thought i would give a little update.
tackled the wiring this weekend and did a few other things like the cooling system, heater core, steering, front brakes.
got all my gauges working. next step will be the rear brake lines then off to the exhaust shop. have a very very shitty cell phone vid of it running and some pics. enjoy!
bought a hurst shifter for the car but it WAY too tall. looks like im going to keep my shortstick with the hurst base.
neeed to finish tucking my ECM up and tidy up the wiring inside.
these cars look so much better with an LSX between the fenders...keep up the good work!

Car is heading to the Exhaust shop tomorrow morning. Im curious to see how it turns out. Should have a bunch of underneath shots of the car so you can see how my setup looks. Original plans were hawks headers, custom Y, into a TSP rumbler catback. Now I decided to go with the hawks headers, into a modified Bassani 2.5" true overaxle system for a 4th gen (with X-pipe) so i hope it fits ok. Pics to follow this weekend with a video/sound clip if all goes well.
The exhaust is on. I used the hangers off the 4th gen car and it went on like a piece of cake. Didnt get any underneath pics yet as my camera died, and no sound clip yet. The exhaust sound great. nice purr at idle and screams at WOT. did a little tuning on the motor and took it out for a quick spin......it was fun!
Also, got all my A/C taken care of. I used all the original 3rd gen stuff with the 4th gen compressor and condensor. blows nice and cold. hopefully i can get a bunch of pic updates. interior is going in this friday.
awesome dude, I would do the same type of thing for the 91 I'm getting, but I kinda need her for a daily grind, and I don't have near enough money for it
I have heard that it is more difficult to tune a car that doesn't have the mass air flow sensor, is it true? I see yours doesn't appear to have one, just a throttle body straight into a custom cold air kit? Did you have to do anything differently with the wiring or computer?

when you tune your vehicle you have to put it into speed density to tune your VE table. its harder to tune with a MAF from my experiences. my car has a MAF on it, it just might not be pictured.
Just thought i would give this thread a bump. it's been about 4 months since i've been on this site as i've been building alot of other customer cars, especially since i became self employed, it really makes it hard to find time for your toys. IDK where i last updated but heres where i stand with the car.
Exhaust system is fully finished and sounds badass. Its hawks LT headers into a fully stainless bassani true dual out the back x-piped system and i must say im pretty happy with it. We got 50% of the car in paint, just trying to find time to paint the rest of the car. I will see if i can find some pics of what we painted to give you an idea of what it will look like.
2) PLEASE post some pics of your exhaust when you get time. I want to change my set up up...I hate the way it sounds anymore (LTs, custom off-road y-pipe, Magnaflow catback). I have a cut out, but the rasp makes me cringe...and I doubt Ill be putting the cut out back in.
Keep up the good work and good luck getting her finished up!!
J.

i will have to get the paint code. i went through so many different paint chips before i found the color i was looking for. its real similar to a color used on the 10-11 mustang 5.0
this car is listed for sale in the classifieds on this forum. i am having a very hard time finding the time and money to finish this car off right. just considering letting it go to someone that wants a very nice project that doesnt need a whole lot to have it on the road.
