Lt1 swap plan

So im finally swapping out this turd of an engine (350 tbi) for an lt1 setup. I am going to be looking at the drivetrain from the car pictured in the attachment (anyone know if its a 93 or 94? I dont know how to tell from a picture). Its motor is locked up and i plan on purchasing a 383 shortblock for 2000$ or Rebuilding the seized motor with a 383 kit (anyone have any reccomendations?) . Then rebuilding the stock heads with bigger valves and porting a little (maybe gasket match i dont trust myself with porting the heads.) I have heard about some cams like the cc305 and 306 (anyone have experience with these? Its my daily driver so it has to idle but i want as big as possible for the street) It will be backed by a t56 with 100,000+ miles on it how much power can these handle? If its a 93 can i still send it off to be tuned to my setup? And how accurate are these tunes? Ive heard good about pcmforless. How much power will this setup yeild? im shooting for 400hp. Also with the 383 will i need to get bigger injectors than stock? Will the gastank out of this car fit mine or will the pump in it fit in mine? sorry for all the questions but i ensure you i have more even though i researched

i have two options get this car and replace the engine with a 383 or rebuild the engine with a stroker kit in place. Which would be cheaper? oh ya im on a tight budget of 2000

Re: Lt1 swap plan

I seriously doubt $2000 is going to do it. Yopu might be able to swap a stock, already-running LT1 for that, or get a stock LT1 car to 400 horses, but trying for both, you better be legendary at getting deals so good we call them steals.
The stock LT1 heads are good enough to get you to the 400 hp mark, without having to go to a 383. The T56 is fine for a 383, and there are no external clues to tell a '94 from a '93.

As for heads and cam I would leave it to one of these give eather one a call they can help you out with what your goal is. AI is slightly higer in price but from dyno sheets and time slips they are worth it.

Re: Lt1 swap plan

The Car is free. A graduation present from the parents. But i only have around 2000 to rebuild the engine. I was thinking 383 and A cc306 cam with mildly ported heads... with a tune. I beleive from what others have done that this will yeild the 400hp mark. I have seen a stock lt1 350 with just the cc306 cam dyno 366rwhp so would a 383 see much more than this setup? Also i have hooker headers and catback already.
I plan on parting out the car for some extra cash too

Most of the stroker dynos I have seen is not that impressive. You could take a H/C and do better if you are going to do all that you better get way more than $2000 a good set of ported heads and cam from LE or AI and thats half of the 2 grand there.

Re: Lt1 swap plan

I would probably stay away from the 306 also since that cam will not come in until around 3500 or so rpm's to about 7000. To get something that is more on the bottom end, look at the XFI series cams which brings the curve down to a lower level with about the same nasty sound.

Here's a clip of the XFI-292 cam http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FBSSAC4WmM

and here's a clip of a CC306 cam
