Has anyone found an alternative to the fuel line kit at Hawks? Theirs looks like a really nice piece, but I can't justify spending $250 on a couple of braided lines and fittings. Perhaps you can make your own kit from parts thru GM or AutoZone? I don't know, it just doesn't look like $250 worth of parts to me.

You can use the vette filter as a fuel pressure regulator. Then in the engine bay, you can buy an AN fitting to fit onto the fuel rail (I bought one and ended up reusing the metal piece from the stock 4th gen line and putting some high quality fuel hose on it). Then, get a fitting for your stock metal fuel line coming into the engine bay that converts it to AN. Make a hose and you're set (stainless, new teflon, etc.) Much less than $250. The Hawks piece is real pretty though.
All in, your looking at $120 for the braided hose feed and return (May be cheaper, you likely need less then 6ft of hose)
I used a 4th gen tank which made mine easier. Its a single 3/8" feed, then an adapter to -6an, male-male adapter w/ fuel press inlet, then a -6line to the rail.
To convert you need tube sleeves, tube nuts and a 37* flare tool
The tube nuts will be female threads so you will need flare unions
AN-6 to AN-6 for the feed, AN-6 to AN-5 for the return unless you can find the 5/16 tube nuts specifically for AN-6 fittings
The rest should be self explanatory
My part list (All Earl's):
Name/Qty/Summit PN/Cost/Total
Prices are brand new parts with reusable ends. The Hawks kit is crimped which cannot be removed
These can be had for ALOT less, this is just a general guide
Yea I really appreciate all the part numbers. That makes it considerably easier. Now I just have to take the time to try and work it out in my head, since I'm having a hard time picturing what needs to be done.
