lt1 question - Third Generation F-Body Message Boards

Hello, this may not be the right place for this question, but anyways I have my new engine build plan. The only thing I'm unsure of is what drives the oil pump in a LT1? This seems like a very basic question but I've had trouble finding an answer, without a distributor is there a drive shaft that mounts on the cam drive gear? And would it be able to mount in a gen 1 block? The reason I ask is I am planning to go with a distributor-less ignition system and see it as a simple way to lose the tpi manifold for a simpler lt1 manifold.

There's a stub shaft that goes in place of the dizzy, so the cam still drives the oil pump.
Can you mount it to a 1st gen block? I would think so, but it would require some machining, I would think...

The shaft is held down by a piece that bolts inside the block behind the hole where the distributor would go, if the block is not machined for the bolt you would have to do that (if it is possible)
