What LT1 will bolt into a 86-92 camaro

new to camaros. (buick muscle car guy)

my first car is going to be an 86-92 Camaro (iroc, RS or Z\28)

im thinking of doing an engine swap for an LT1 from a corvette.
what engine will fit?

ex: 981 Z\28 compatible to a 94 LT1

is it a hard job? (my dad has been in domestic buisness since 1958)

It's just a Gen I smallblock with some errors in judgment tacked onto it along with a limited amount of parts availability. Everything will interchange except for all the parts you have to get specifically for an LT1. Regardless... a lot of people like them so whatever. They'll all bolt right in as well as any other LT1.

They will fit in the car no problem. You're just gonna have to deal with swapping over the fuel injection system which can be difficult plus some differences with serpentine brackets from fourth gens to thirdgens.

Re: What LT1 will bolt into a 86-92 camaro

READ THIS - http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/lt...questions.html (Common LT1 Swap Questions And Answers)

The corvette LT1 differences over F-body LT1 are that it has 4 bolt mains and different accessories.

The ideal LT1 to swap in would be a 95 f-body LT1. Vented optispark which causes less opti failure, 95-97's are vented. Aluminum heads, only corvette and f-body LT1's have aluminum heads. Easier wiring harness(more diagrams available for the 95 f-body). OBDI computer, The LT1 OBDI(94-95) computer is very cheap and easy to work with. You can swap this stuff onto other LT1's though.

The ideal thirdgen f-body for the swap would be a V8 with fuel injection.
