Help me awaken the Beast!!!

I want to run my 1992 Z28 with an Lt1/4L60e drivetrain, wired at least as a 1994 Z28 so I can have the sequential fuel injection and computerized shift points. I've installed the Lt1/4L60e in car and I'm having a few problems. First, the transmission does not have a mounting area for my stock torque arm(which I want to run) & catalic converter! I got the 4L60e from a 2001 Chevy Tahoe(measuring 23 3/16") with no torque converter. Can I use the torque converter from my old 305/700R4 drive train?
Next, I would like to use my 1992 Z28's air conditioning compressor. I already have Street & Performance accessory mounting brackets and pulleys. Does anyone know if they offer a mounting bracket for the stock 1992 Z28 air conditioning compressor?
Finally, I really would like run OBD-II. This means wiring the car as a 1996 Z28. Now here's the question, are the 1994 & 1996 Z28 sensors interchangeable?
P.S. What's a nice size cam I can put in here at this point. The engine is new(never been ran), I don't want to change nothing but the cam though; I want a nice lope with a not too rough but noticeable idle.
In closing: a. transmission crossmember, stock torque arm mounting
problem
b. can I use a 700R4's torque converter in 4L60e
c. Street & Performance A/C mounting bracket for 1992 Z28
comppressor to Lt1 engine
d. so I can run OBD-II, are 1994 & 1996 Z28 engine sensors
interchangeable
e. cam
Just so y'all know, the future heart for this beast WILL BE a turbo or super charged Lt5!!!

Why do you want to convert to OBD II? Most people convert there OBD II to OBDI to get away from more sensors and cheaper tunning. IIRC I have seen one LT1 swap done (in 3rd gen) and has had a working A/C I think you have to use the vette acc. For the tranny I would try to get one from a f or b body and use the f body tailshaft. Cam depend what you want out of the car I have the cc503 and love it.

Re: Help me awaken the Beast!!!

Are you sure you have a trans from an '01 truck? All trucks were Ls powered from 99 up, which wouldn't bolt to the lt1 very I wouldn't think........

I'd look around for a trans from lt1 f-body.

Definitely go with OBD I computer/harness. It'll make life much easier.

*wait*

After rereading your post, it sounds like you have an LS1, not the lt1..... am I wrong?

Re: Help me awaken the Beast!!!

I remember reading somewhere that the 94 LT1 computer can only control a 4L60E from a 94 LT1 setup, other 4L60E years not compatible.

The reasons why people will not recommend LT1-OBDII is that it is more difficult/expensive to tune/monitor, a OBDII tune will yield 10 less RWHP than a OBDI tune on a stock LT1.

OBD II uses 4 O2 sensors, 2 knock sensors, and a Crank position sensor (different timing cover than OBD1).

OKay, scratch OBD-II. Now, is the 700R4's torque converter interchangeable to a late model 4L60e?

no, they are not interchangable. I would find a different transmission.

Re: Help me awaken the Beast!!!

Like I said earlier, scratch the OBD-II; if being wired as a '94 Z28 poses complications, screw that too. The most immediate problem is getting making correct physical connections; mainly, the crossmember, driveshaft, and torque arm connections. The tranny did come from an '01 Tahoe, it bolts up just fine so lets make it work! Thinking rationally, I'ma need a torque converter, and I want a nice step or 2 above stock cam; so let's shop around for a company with a nice cam/stall package. Cam application being for a '95 Z28(OBD-I wiring), and stall application being for an '01 4L60e tranny. At this point, I need a modified 6-bolt 4L60e tail housing that will bolt up to my '92 stock cross member, driveshaft, and torque arm. Anybody know a company that can supply me with such an item? Besides the two companies(cam/stall, & modified tail housing), tell me what y'all think of the whole scenario?

Re: Help me awaken the Beast!!!

F-body tailhousing on the transmission will have the proper torque arm mount, if....if the transmission input shaft is the exact same as on the LT1 4L60E you should be able to use an F-body torque converter, but the input shaft will be longer than the one in an LT1 4L60E. Look at the people who want to run 700R4 on an LS based motor and having to use an adapter for the flywheel to make up the difference.

Best bet is to find an LT1 f-body 4L60E and use it, that way you don't take a chance on spending more money on something you can't use.
