LTX and LSXPutting LT1's, LS1's, and their variants into Third Gens is becoming more popular. This board is for those who are doing and have done the swaps so they can discuss all of their technical aspects, including repairs, swap info, and performance upgrades.

I was diggin around for intakes and found an amazing thread on the hp differences on the 3 intakes. The professional products 96mm looks like it can handle some power!
(i hope i'm not breaking any rules by posting this here, if i am please delete)
LS6 & Professional Products HP wise were identical until approx 6000rpm, where the LS6 fell off a tad, (7ish hp, not much at all)
LS6 made more tq down low, and then the professional products again picked up a little bit at 5600rpm.
FAST intake produced the best under the curve power, peak power etc.
After seeing those graphs, no way would i invest in a Proffessional products intake. Identical to LS6 until high RPM where minimal gains are seen, and the LS6 delivers more tq. Not to mention the Professional products is a Aluminum intake, and is much more prone to heat sink then a nylon intake, so after a 45 minute drive, it would likely be performing identical to the LS6 at all points.
IMO, its LS6 or FAST for cathedral port heads. Ive yet to see anything really do as well.
Even for boost, i build a 402ci w/ Paxton Novi 2000, using an LS6 intake it made 839rwhp, and my buddy's vette is a 402ci w/ Vortech YSi, makes 922rwhp w/ LS6 intake.
Sometimes its not nessicary to go further then the general's parts
Metal intakes like the professional products ones heat soak and add weight to the nose
Only thing they are good for is containing a nitrous backfire or boost, so they have their place.
Beyond that all metal intakes suck for the same reason.
From personal experiance the ls6 intake keeps up until about 90mph at which point my FAST intake seems to pull away.
All those idiots keep complaining about how much the FAST costs. Well actually it's the ones still running the ls6 trying to feel better about continually losing to FAST motors.
I want to laugh in their face every time the price thing comes up and remind them all I got my FAST for $550 off ebay brand new with live's 30% cash back and everyone of them could have done the same thing so boo fricking hoo.
I’m actually looking into Edelbrock new intake for the LS swap crowd “Pro-Flo XT.” They run about $430 and I can sell my LS6 for about $300. The initial model had some fitment issues (throttle body and injectors) but Edelbrock has addressed this issues in the newer model.
Waiting on dyno results for a Fast 92/92 vs. Edelbrock
$500+fuel rails$+trying to fit under a low hood which it won't clear.
Yet another try and fail to knock off the fast intake.
Why is this so hard I don't understand.
The fast is nothing more then an ls1/ls6 with bigger runners and TB.
Yet in all the years it's been out instead of just copying GM's design abeit with bigger runners every other manufactorer keeps trying to reinvent the wheel. Half the time they end up 'just about ready to debut' and never make it out of the gate and the rest have fitment issues that require different injectors, fuel rails, lines, TB fitment etc etc.
Good grief there is HUGE money to be made if you just come in and copy the fast intake and resell it at $500.
It blows my mind competitors continue to let fast bask in their total domination at a 4 figure price.

$439 from Summit but the target price was $350 which might be reached once production catches up with the demand.
Small mods will allow the LS1 type fuel rails to work as noted in the thread.
As far as clearance goes, I have a 3 inch cowl so I don’t see it being an issue for me. I believe it’s only a bit taller than the L76 truck manifolds.
I really want to see what kind of power these things put down vs. the FAST 92/92. If I could get a FAST 92/92 @ 30% it wouldn’t even be a question!!! Plus I agree with you about aftermarket companies failing to duplicate FAST results. I was hoping Edelbrock took a step in the right direction and drove the competition to lower its price.
At this point it makes it difficult for me to spend $1,250+ for a FAST 92/92 NW for 20-25 rwhp. I think i'll just change out my nitrous jets from 125rwhp to 150rwhp in a few minutes for free
I've seen a 35 hp gain switching to the FAST 90, but as I'll be adding a pair of T4S04s, spooling up to 13.5 psi, I'm leaning toward BBK's cast aluminum.
yea i could get a ls6 and have it ported to 90 by tpis down the road from me. Then geta NW 90 TB. HMM, by the time i buy the intake, port it, and buy a TB im at 1K already. Then might as well spend another couple hundred and get this fast 92/92 for 1200 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FAST-...Q5fAccessories
I've had a few of these intakes. LS6 is a nice piece all around and i dont have any complaints about it. The Fast is definitly a nice piece as well, and is a proven performer which is why so many of them are running around on the streets. The Professional Products intake is junk. main reason i dont like it is the style of gaskets used. Too many people have had problems with them leaking. The stock LS1 style gasket intakes work the best (fast, ls6, and BBK). I've ran the BBK. overall its a very nice piece, only down fall to it is the weight you pick up but i did gain a few ponies with it, and it holds up to any NOS backfires you might have. As far as heat soak is concerned, its a joke. Heatsoak doesnt matter. take a temp gun and check your temps on a composite intake and a aluminum intake on a running motor. IAT temps are still the same on both. On a carb'd app, its a big deal. Too many people believe what they read on forums.
so to cap this all off. FAST, BBK, and LS6 are all very nice. Pro Prod is a piece of S#*T, and i dont know anything about the edelbrock piece yet
