Re: Ls1 question

One thing that might be worth considering, is that you'll need to keep the LS1 throttle body. The LS2 and LS6 both use a drive-by-wire TB, while the LS1 has a throttle cable. If you wind up with an LS2/LS6 TB, you might be able to swap the cable drive guts onto it, but I'm not sure.

Re: Ls1 question

The LS1 TB will fit the LS6 intake manifold, which is about 10 hp better than the LS2 intake. All of the LS6 stuff is compatible with your LS1 block, but on the LS2, some things were repositioned. Best to use the LS6 stuff, then sell whatever's left over.

Re: Ls1 question

LS2/LS6 heads are the same heads. casting number 241

The LS6 and LS2 intakes both make the same power from what I understand, The LS6 is a bolt on no probs, the LS2 is not compatible with the LS1 TB.

Re: Ls1 question

Not so. LS6 heads were 243s with hollow intake valves and sodium-filled exhaust valves. LS2 heads were also 243s, but with normal valves.

Re: Ls1 question

And Ken Duttweiler did the dyno testing that proves the LS6 intake is 10 hp better than the LS2 intake.

My bad, stock ls1 heads are 241, the LS6/2's are the 243. I was just meaning they are the same casting.

Re: Ls1 question

I hate to seem unfriendly, but again, this is not so either. The 243s has different intake ports and different combustion chambers. The 243s not only have better flow, they also have better mixture / charge motion in the combustion chambers which by itself would help power, even without the improved flow, though the extra flow does help also. The 241 head has 66.67cc chambers, while the 243s are 64.45cc, according to GMPP. 243s are better, but will bolt right in place of 241s.

Re: Ls1 question

No need for an apology! If I am wrong then i am wrong, thank you for sharing information. :-) I think there is confusion with my post though.

I was saying the the 243's are the better casting the 241's The 243s are the LS2/6 (LS6/2 are the same casting, different valves, but the same springs) and the 241s (a different casting) is the LS1 casting.

Sometimes I don't always type what is in my brain. haha

I didn't realize the valves for the LS2 dubbed 243s had upgraded valves though, that is good to know.

Re: Ls1 question

The LS2 got the same valves as the LS1, but the same castings as the LS6. The LS6 valves didn't get installed in anything but LS6s.

Re: Ls1 question

What i am debating on is buying a fast intake and giving the ls6 heads when i get them a stage 1 port job. Im wondering what MM intake would be best to use with the ls1 throttle body you guy's where talking about earler and can i still use the stock ls6 cam or do a have to replace it.
