Is the throttle cable that Hawks sells the Lokar cable? The reason I'm asking is because in the picture of the cable on their site it says "Hi-Tech", which was one of the variants I saw of Lokar throttle cables. Another reason I ask is because I was pricing them at the dealer yesterday and they were roughly $25 for a new GM throttle cable, and wasn't sure if the one Hawks sells was OEM or not. What would be the advantage of getting a Lokar cable as opposed to getting a new GM cable? Is it strictly appearance related?

what year GM OEM cable did u price out ? . Did u find a cable thats has that black washer piece that goes on the firewall which is bigger than the one comes on the third gen.
From what I understand nobody makes a "hybrid" cable except for lokar, hawks etc.
It would be cool if u found something that will work for $25.
It was a 2000 Z28 throttle cable, non traction control. I can call and get a price on a 1998 or 1999 whatever it is that the tech article said you'd need and see if it's any different in price.

I just called the dealer again and asked about a 1998 non traction control cable and it's $30.45. Is that the one that you need for the swap? I think that's what I read on here somewhere, although I can't find the thread or article I am thinking of.
EDIT: Just got off the phone with them one more time just to make sure about the '98/'99 issue and they said the cable is the same for both years. They have the same part number.

ya, I used the non trac control cable that came with the 2002. It works on the TB and the 3rd gen pedal but it wobbles around in the hole in the firewall.
So is that piece on the 98-99 non traction cable bigger than that of an 02.
I just brought a print out of gmpp's websites price for a 98-99 trans am non traction control... it was like 20.00 bucks with no arguements

Cruise has nothin' to do with the throttle cable itself, it's on a different cable. The guys at the local Chevy dealer specifically asked if I need traction control or non-traction control, so I'm assuming they are different.

Search, chevy bowtie, then camaro, then 1999, then towards the bottom left type "throttle" in the search, and yes you want non traction control (it is a lil shorter)
$22.xX $30.45 is msrp, if the dealer won't cut you a better deal, find another
part number will go here once I find it....lol
GM part#
OH and to better answer your original question... Looks and You won't have to make a slight mod to the gas pedal arm.
I had to slightly bend my pedal bar, you will see once your down there.... factory thirdgen pedal and ls1 cable won't make WAO (wide @#$ open). only needs a little bend... blue tip'd wrench make quick work of that.
