LTX and LSXPutting LT1's, LS1's, and their variants into Third Gens is becoming more popular. This board is for those who are doing and have done the swaps so they can discuss all of their technical aspects, including repairs, swap info, and performance upgrades.

I can get a picture tomorrow if need be, but when I was gutting the engine bay of my convertible to prep it for paint, I saw some rubber hosing that I can't remember what it went to.
1: super thin black rubber hosing that has a 3-way junction down by the driver side headlight. One end goes down below where the EVAP canister was (kinda by the driver side, side marker light), another end looks like it may have gone to the windshield wiper reservoir? Is that what it is? If so, what the heck is the one end way down inside the fender???
2: a somewhat thicker rubber hose that is taped to a bunch of wires with a flat, thin connector, it runs down along by the EVAP hard lines and the fuel lines. I don't think it was one of the lines for the power steering pump, because it looks like it goes way down the frame rail and into the firewall?
Again, if I need to, I will take some detailed pictures tomorrow for you guys. It was just bugging me tonight not remember what they went to.

Question #2, I think what you described, is a cruise vacuum hose to the brake pedal switch.
#1 probably goes to the vacuum ball, stores vacuum for heat/air controls. Pics would help. Dean. edit, its better to take detailed pics BEFORE you tear apart LOL.
Yea I know, this is like the only part of the old setup that I really don't remember what it went to. I'll get some pictures tomorrow. I've got a long day of cleaning and prepping the engine bay for paint.

Vacuum hoses are vacuum hoses. If you've gutted everything that uses vacuum, you dont need the hoses. Im running without the power orb right now, and my vents are a little slow to respond, but everything works fine. I plan on hooking it up eventually. But the LS1 doesnt require much vacuum connection. In fact, the only thing that is using vacuum on my car now is my HVAC stuff. Oh...and the brake booster, but that doesnt count.
The hose with the flat plug sounds like its the cruise stuff like Dean said. If you arent using thirdgen cruise, which I doubt you are, just yank it all out. THe hole in the firewall for the cruise hose and wiring is a nice hole to run swap wires through IIRC.

Vacuum is vacuum, it doesnt care where its from as long as it gets some
Since you pulled the cruise harness now would be a fantastic time to incorporate a new mini harness to use the newer digital cruise units if you're keeping cruise

Is that something I would get from an original LS1 fbody harness? I plan on just buying a harness and computer from someone on LS1Tech and trying to tackle the re-pinning myself with a lot of help from you all.

Well I don't know if I made a mistake today or not, but I cut the rubber hose that goes to that round, black vacuum canister when I was pulling it off the car. I don't know if that's a really bad thing or not, because not it's not usable anymore.
And here's the clip I was asking about. You say it's for the cruise control? So would that mean the black hose next to the clip was for the cruise control vacuum diaphram?

The vacuum line goes to a switch on your brake pedal
It is also a separate harness that follows your frame rail into your firewall and connects to your brake switch and turn signal stalk
If you go with the new digital cruise unit, youll drop the vacuum line and majority of the wires in the harness. The only thing I recall reusing is the stalk connector and the brake switch connector. The digi cruise connector will come from your LS1 harness or any mid-late 90's GM car in a junkyard
Some posts on LS1tech talk about using a truck version of the cruise unit(wierd) and cutting out all PCM related controls for it such as traction cruise kill etc so the unit can be mounts on any car, GM, LSx or not

So is it ok that I cut off that vacuum ball? Will I not need it for anything vacuum related?

Ide leave the vac ball. It just lets things like your vents work better/faster. I have mine disconnected right now, and when I first turn on my vents, it takes a few seconds for the vents to move from defrost to whatever I have them set to. It just makes things work smoother in my opinion. Im going to hook it back up when I pull my intake for my injector swap/gasket replacement. Certainly doesnt hurt and you cant see it.

i hate to quote a pic, but this saves me from having to go get one myself. does anyone have the pinouts from this cruise connector, and do you know if they all provide the same signal (+12 or gnd) so i can just splice these wires into the cruise stuff on my lsx harness and not fry anything in the ecm? thanks
well i have the dbw harness for my lq4, and the cruise stuff is in the tac in that. i know where the wires for cruise are in that, and the switches are externally the same on the trucks and my thirdgen, i just wanted to make sure that when i match up the wires from the thirdgen switch i'm not sending +12 v somewhere in the ecm or tac that doesn't want it. i think they should be the same though, since the switches have been the same for years.
I attached some images from a Cruise control I removed from an '89 Camaro. There's a few lines cut which are labeled open, IIRC they went to the main harness and it's been a while since I pulled it. They should be clear enough to see the colors of the wires. The CC module is located near the computer and I think the lines closest to it go to that as well.
The washer hose goes straight from the reservoir to the windshield wipers on the driver side. There is a small hole in the firewall that you feed the hose through and it attaches to the driver side wiper.
