Auto to T56 swap, console question...also 4th gen reservoir question

This might have been able to be posted somewhere else on TGO, but since there's so many of you here that have swapped from an auto to manual, I figured I would just ask you guys. When you are swapping from auto to manual, do you have to replace the whole center console with one from a manual car, or can you simply change out the shifter plate piece from the console?

Also, another unrelated question... how the heck did you guys mount the 4th gen windshield wiper fluid reservoirs, for those who did this mod? I've looked under the hood latch area trying to find a good place to mount it, does anyone have some good pictures that show where and how you mounted yours?

If you are keeping the 3rd gen consolde then just change the bezel. Not sure on the 4th gen unit though.

You just change the shifter plate. Make sure your shifter plate includes the boot.

The guy that wrote the t56 swap sticky was actually able to use his stock auto shift plate on his swap.

I myself am using a 97+ console in my swap because it looks MUCH better and gives me cup holders as well as a spot for a gauge or two. Plus, the hinge and lid on my stock console was to far broken to fix.

I'm using a 3rd gen manual shifter plate with my 6-speed, the boot is a little tight but it works. The 4th gen consoles you have to swap the shifter plate out with one for a 6-speed as well.

Thumb thru Ghettocruiser's swap thread to see how he mounted the washer tank

If I remember right he used a stack of washers and drilled a hole for the fill neck (firebird only)

People who reuse the auto shifters cut out the entire center area and glue a manual boot to the bottom. Dont forget the console position can be adjusted if you get into a tight spot for the longer gears

Sweet thanks for the help guys. I'll have to dig up Justin's thread to see about that washer reservoir, if it's any help for us Camaro owners.
