I'd like to start off by saying that im fairly new and have been a lurker on your site gathering a lot of useful information. I'm planning on building up the lt1 i have in my 88 rs. This will be my first engine build and i just wanted to see if im doing things the right way. so far ive created a parts list of the following: Trick Flow® GenX™ 195cc Street/Strip Cylinder Heads for GM LT1 COMP Cams Xtreme Fuel Injection Cam and Lifter Kits: Cam and Lifters, Hydraulic Roller Tappet, Advertised Duration 280/288, Lift .576/.570, lobe separation 113 Crane Gold Race Extruded Rocker Arms 1.6 ratio Lunati Plus Roller Timing Sets Edelbrock Performer RPM Air-Gap LT1/LT4 Intake Manifolds BBK Power-Plus Series Throttle Bodies 58mm Accel 26 lbs/hr Fuel Injectors Aluminum Valve Covers MSD Ignition Pro-Billet LT1 Distributors Painless performance Perfect Engine Management system i cant decide whether i should keep it a 350 or go all out to a 383 I'm considering stroking it cause then i would get all the forged internals w/ the rotating assembly. Any Input is helpful and criticism is wanted.. if a parts junk.. let me know (mainly that lunati timing chain set.. its on the cheap side compared to other sets) Thank you Tim

Hey man, I am building a 383 LT1 right now and I have a complete 383 rotating assembly ready to go if you are interested in saving a lot of money. This is all brand new stuff, installed and never ran. Golen Engine Service has the motor right now taking everything out because I decided to go with their procharged motor and I am going to sell what I had started. Chad is a great guy and he can bless this stuff for you...

This is what I have:

Comp-Cams LT1 Cam (.570/.575 lift @ .050, 225/230 duration)
1.6 Ratio Harland Sharp roller rockers
Lightweight L98 Flywheel W/ARP Bolts

Also have a 1994 z28 Auto Harness complete.

Everything is balanced and I have the paper work to show it as well. Let me know! Might have more stuff that I am not using and if you are interested I will get a hold of Chad asap and get a complete list for you.

355 vs 383 You cant go wrong with the 383 or even a 396. Neither one cost much more.

Everything looks good except the Edelb. lt1 intake. GMHTP or Chevy Hi Perf. mag did back to back dyno testing of the intake with a stock one and said for the $ it wasnt worth the little gain over stock.

I was thinking of that intake for my 383 LT1 but said FK IT and just ported mine.
Im not sure what those TFS heads cost or how they flow but another option to look at is Having your stock heads ported by Loyd Elliot. Seems like the 4thGen guys swear by his work.

I agree with TPI383... I am having my heads ported to 185 cc and having the intake ported to match. You can still make around the 440 hp range. If you go aftermarket heads I would go with AFR's while spending that much money already.

Lloyd Elliot does do amazing work. Depending on streetability you might not want to go too crazy with porting the heads cause you will loose some streetability if you go crazy with like 220cc or so... need a bigger cam, aggressive tune, etc...
