LQ9 into IROC... what wiring harness should I look for?
I'm about to pull the trigger on a 62k mile LQ9 to swap into my IROC, but it comes without a harness. The junk yard that I'm getting the motor from said that they can't even get me one... they're always cut when the motors are pulled.
So, I'm going to need to look for a harness on my own. Anybody care to educate me on harness differences between LS1/LS2/LQ4/LQ9/ blah blah blah?
In the end I will likely have L92 heads and an LS3 intake/injectors, but that's subject to change 20 times too.
Re: LQ9 into IROC... what wiring harness should I look for?
I would pick up a harness from an fbody because they fit better with fbody accessories and intakes. I bought mine from someone on LS1tech (and a member here come to find out) for $200 shipped and un-cut.
Re: LQ9 into IROC... what wiring harness should I look for?
Are you doing drive by wire or cable? That will play into what you need for a harness as well. but fbody is definitely the way I'd go as well if you're trying to stay as clean as possible with routing without modifying (trucks are nice but will require a bit of trimming if you want them routed nicely, not to mention different plugs for the injectors). Stay away from 98 fbodies though, they are an oddball year when it comes to tuning and not as well supported.
