What rear tires are you using at the track, and how much suspension work do you have done to the car? It seems as though if you could get the car to hook you'd be looking at LOW 12 sec. ET's.
i agree. back in '98, the editor of the Mustang magazine got a stock 6-speed Z28 to run a 12.89 at 109.18, and that was without your long-tube headers, cam, 3.73:1 gears, LS6 intake and ported TB. You should be well into the mid 12s even on street tires. Get some 26" drag radials and you should get low 12s easy. Also, get the car on a chassis dyno, you should be over 370 rear wheel horses. If not, you may have a problem with the tune.
Good to know. lol. I am hoping to be able to keep my buddies taillights in sight when we race. (his car is much faster than mine lol, think 1500 lb Volkswagen w/ 300HP Turbo 23XX CC motor, meth injected etc...)
So you ran a 14.0 with bolt on cam'd LS1 thirdgen? I missed third in my bolt on '00 Z28 and I ran a 13.8, with stock suspension and heavy *** 18" tires.
It looks like you're getting better and I'm not meaning to give ya a hard time, but good god man learn how to row those gears!!
its not the shifting thats the problem, its the launching. Car is scratching rubber in all four gears.
Also, I needed to drive the car home 3.5 hrs from the track on this particular outing, which was at the end of my road trip/vacation.
Add in the fact I've raced the car twice...... ever. My last attempt at the track was about 4 yrs ago. Maybe I'll get better, maybe I'll get worse. Seat time does account for a lot
Tommy..... I'm not tearing up the clutch to get a better ET. I have a reliable, 12 sec car with ac and cruise. I don't have another $500 for a new clutch.........
Add in that those drag radials are about 8 years old. Watch the vid, car doesn't weight transfer at all. Needs an S60, a 2 step, and slicks. (drag racing for dummies)
DA was Between 1072' - your last pass, and 1310' - your first pass. Decent, but nothing "great." It was a T&T night, so prep was average... with the exception of the last pass.
I never believe what those magazine editors write, most of their numbers are cushioned, and the article is geared at helping the car manufacturer,or who-ever greases the writers palm better.
A time slip from the track is black n white.
And yes seat time will help your times considerably,
I know that first hand, took my car to a nice 1/8 and started turning 12's on street tires, and didnt know how to drive on a track, with practice, and few few minor changes, (from pegleg pete to posi/ street worn A4 to a race prepped A4 with 2600 stall) I've whittled my times to a very good consistancy, and using drag radials at the track only.
my 60ft is down to a 1.86 and 1/8 is 9.16.
I'll stand next to 86 Iroc, and say the car is running good, practice on a track will help(seat time), as well as tires, and tweaks on the tuning.
Those will be impressive #s for a reliable street friendly car, with good mileage.
A time slip from the track is black n white, without it, it is just bench racing.

I'm just messin with ya, I just hope my clutch does decent at the track, if that clutch doesnt at least perform as good as the clutch I had on the SR20, i'm going to be mad tho 4000-4500 rpm clutch drops ftw
