I'm thinking about going the 6.0 route come tax time and I was thinking of something pretty modest, like in the 400rwhp range. What would be the most economical way to go about this? I want to use an auto because I'm not really into sticks, so a built 4l60/65E would be a must. What do you guys recommend?
Like I said nothing too crazy because 400rwhp in a 2800lb car is more than enough for me, lol

Pretty easy to hit close to that power level. Over 4 is gonna cost you typically, Under 4 is affordable thats a threshold for LS1 power vs affordable. Cam, Longtubes, Fast intake, and a good tune will get you there. I'd run the patriot head/cam kit that will put you well over and its under $2k
Ok that sounds pretty good but I also have another question for the masses. If and when I do this swap I want it to be as "bare bones" as possible. Here's an idea of what I'm thinking of.
I want basically the same set up or I was thinking a multiport type single plane with a adequately sized TB on top. I'm tossing around the old school look as well. What can I do to be able to run the bare minimum and be able to drive the car? I'm talking as far as wires and accessories. To give you an I dea of what I'm running now here it is.
I've got a buddy who built an LQ9 for his '94 Trans Am and put the Victor Jr EFI intake on it with an 1100 CFM TB, I know someone on here did that as well.....you get the looks of a carb, but stay EFI. I remember him saying it made around 560 or so at the flywheel.
