I finally touched the LS1/T56 project again last night! First time since late May.
Did some more on the wiring. Current issue is finding a battery connection for the fuse/relay box, chassis power, and HVAC fan. I have the 4th gen battery cable that goes to the alternator and fuse/relay box, but I'm using an aftermarket swap fuse/relay box that doesn't have a battery cable lug, just a 10-gauge wire. The chassis & HVAC fan power came from the starter battery lug on the '82, which the LS1 harness doesn't have. I'm hoping to find a proper lug or buss bar this morning so I can continue.
After that it's hooking up the temp gauge sender wire, mounting the HVAC box back in, finishing the radiator fans wiring (ground wires), figuring out how to mount the PCM in the passenger compartment, wiring the aftermarket gauge cluster, and a whole bunch of other little things. . .
Congrats on cracking into it again. I know my swap took way too long just because I was slacking hardcore.
For a battery connection, what about using the boxed stud that hangs off a trucks alternator wiring? T's into a battery cable IIRC. It provides a stud as well as protection from grounding out on something.

I just used one of those on my 1980 Bonneville as a distribution block for powering just about everything.
No big surprise, they're easy to lose off the charge wire on the alt. You can get them brand new from GM for cheap though. My catalogging is down right now otherwise I'd give you the part number.
Here's what I was talking about. It's the thing in the upper left hand corner with single stud on it. 73-87 Chevy trucks use these and some have 2 studs. Some of the newer truck have one like it next to their fan shroud.
My GTA has one a 2 post version of the one in the above picture, might go and find a TPI car (or a V6 MPFI car) and rob it. It bolts to the passenger side radiator support.
That's what I am using, I am running everything needing 12v to that block and it cleans up the engine bay quite a bit. I have pictures in the last page or two of my swap thread.

I've yet to see any '76-'91 Camaro that didn'tb have one of these hidden somewhere, same for S-10s, '83-'89.
Looks like I need a trip to the pick & pull - not a simple proposition for me (believe it or not - all at least 20 miles away, fighting the crowds on weekends, finding a day with decent weather - we just had 12" of snow this past weekend - etc.).
you said you're planning to run this in some kind of clutch car class, right? what are you doing for drivetrain/clutch upgrades?

Stock T56 (AMSOIL lube, of course). LS7 clutch & flywheel. Drill mod on the master cylinder. The engine/tranny came out of a 2000 SS, so it had the Hurst shifter already.
10-bolt with all new guts - aftermarket posi, gears (4.10), and axles (28 spline, of course), all new bearings, welded tubes, aluminum support cover.

I'm planning on a trip to the boneyard early in the morning - I'll keep an eye out, & if I find a second one (because I'll be looking for one for myself as well), I'll just pick it up for ya.
