another fu***** crank no start!!
i beating my head against a wall.engine is obd1 355 lt1 so far, i changed the icm for a acdelco unit. have an accel coil showing 6.9k ohms. also have a series 2 msd opti with screw adjusted 2.5 turns from tight. engine also has cc 503 lt4 springs, hardened rods, 28# injectors and a mail order tune.
after my tune the car ran great! i drove the hell out of it. i noticed a difference at around 6k rpm. and a very small amount of valve train noise at starrt up, then would go away so for good measure i adjusted my rockers. well then after a few days it started missing after 5k rpm. then blowing black smoke at start up. then a horrible idle...then nothing.
as i mentioned i have 6.9k ohms on the coil. i have proper power and ground to opti, coil, and icm. i am also receiving a varied signal from the pcm which is only 1 year old. also have switched power to both pink and orange wires in the harness. i know one is supposed to be constant, and i will get to that when it starts. because it ran fine for 3 months with the power set up this way. i also have an external walbro 255 that is lower than my sump from my tank. and the filter is the fram race canister deal, that is before my pump. i also have a gauge at the rail that shows a solid 45 psi at KOEO. i also have new 10.3 mm plug wires and ngk tr55 plugs that i installed in February.
I have to get this car together by thursday...its my only transportation at this point, so my family is depending on it. anyone that has time to help me i would appreciate it more than i could explain.

Re: another fu***** crank no start!!
Is the check engine light hooked up, any trouble codes?
Start with the basics: fuel, air spark
Get a can of ether and see if will fire and run a few seconds before dying to rule out an ign problem
Ohm out the injectors, then unplug them and remove the rail, leaving the fuel lines connected. Prime the system and see if any are leaking severely. If they're fine, plug them back in and prime the system again. All 8 should spray roughly the same amount. If that checks out, reinstall the rail and do a compression test
Still good, unplug the MAF, iat, CTS and try to fire the engine

Re: another fu***** crank no start!!
Just a thought, but one time on my old LT1 I overtightened the rockers and it caused a no start condition. From then on I will only adjust them with the car running and one at a time. You said that you adjusted them and the no start got progressively worse from there so maybe you overtightened them and they are now hanging open a little. Not sure what brand of rockers you have but did you adjust them with the car running and then to propper lash?

Re: another fu***** crank no start!!
the rockers was my 1st thought. I was doing this as my opti was failing, and everytime i adjusted them it got worse and worse until it wouldnt start at all. I thought i was the dumbest guy ever till i pulled a plug and seen i had no spark, but the plugs looked good.
I gambled on 3 cheapo opti's with nothing, one would start then die everytime i turned the key. then got a cardone hoping it would be better and nothing. i hooked it up and spun the rotor with a drill with a plug attached and i got nothing.
so i gave in and bought the msd. i called them and spoke with a rep and he explained that the redesigned models have the same part number 83811 as the old unit. so if it has a problem i will have to send it to them anyway and they will replace it with the updated design, if i happen to get an old model.
well after all the bad optis.....i fouled my freakin plugs!! i never even thought about it. i had kinda mentally checked it off my list when i originally pulled em.
thank you guys for the input. im still going to readjust my lifters with it running just to be sure lolz
