My Camaro used to be pretty well-known around here but I have been off the boards for a while. Well, I sold her on 11-29-07. Here is what she looked like on her last day in Georgia. She is now is Canada! I let her go for $1700 after paying $6500 and investing $10k
Now I'm looking for a LS1/M6 SS or WS6 And I still have the GTA
No, that's not me in the pic

Thanks man. That's a nice Bright Red GTA you got there, also. At least you have something to fall back on. And it turns out, its something that is worthy of falling back on, and takes up the slack.
Poor Camaro...from the warm weather of Georgia to the frigid cold of Canada...nice GTA

The buyer got a nice deal. It looks a lot like the 86Z I'm currently restoring with my son. He paid $1000 but it needs a fair amount of work. I'm still trying to get over the reverse sticker shock of these cars after restoring my 68 RS convertible. Seems like you can't buy a crushed empty 1st gen shell for less than a few grand, not to mention how expensive the parts are. Why are the 3rd gens so overlooked? I may have to get myself one after my sons is finished.
What did you have done to it to have 10k wraped up into it?
Nice car but doesnt look like a $16k 3rdgen.
unless it was all suspention ,motor/tranny swap stuff.
I paid $6500 for in in February 2000. I added the exhaust, Iroc wheels, tires, $750 seats, tint, stereo, and whatever else is in my sig. I also added alot of new parts, such as shocks, struts, sensors, heater core, wheel bearings, brake work...all the maintenance parts add up over 8 years.
Thanks for all the compliments. I had so sell the car for cheap because it needed a valve job, a transmission rebuild, and some paint.
Sorry you had to let it go..... it was a nice looking car. Those 3rd gens just can't help but look sexy!!

I understand when sometimes things have to go.... I had to sell my 02' SS, but then found the IROC and now even have the T/A!!
I don't know your exact situation, but things happen for a reason!
My situation:
1. Had 2 thirdgens.
2. Moved to Athens from Albany, one thirdgen couldn't make it because it needed work.
3. Couldn't realistically afford and maintain 2 thirdgens, one that needs valve job, trans rebuild, and paint, and the other needing paint.
4. Need something newer and more reliable, a la 4th gen SS or WS6, since I travel alot between Athens and Albany (3.5 hours each way)
5. Sometime you just gotta move on
6. Cupholders...

I understand! Only bad news that I have for you is this..... yes, the 4th gens have cupholders, but they suck!

I spilled hot coffee on my wang on time...So anything that holds my coffee AWAY from my crotch is a good thing! Luckily, my wang suffered no permanent damage

Hey Chris its Craig in Prince Edward Island the guy who bought your car sorry for not keepin in touch with ya letting you know how i am doing with it as we speak im in the middle of putting in a 350 engine the was complete redone hoping to push some where of about 4-425 horses and got the transmission overhauled i had the car all done over i kept it black and and put base clear on it and i am swaping out the 7.5 rear end and puting a 10 bolt out of a 79-81 camaro in it to hold the power if it hooked up hard i think it would turn the rear diff into a sand box in there well i will have her all legal and on the road in a couple weeks and ill have to clean it up and send you a few pictures

Thanks for the update!!! I bet the car looks unbelievable again. I'm happy I was able to sell it to a person who would take care of it and give it what it deserves. I can't wait to see some pictures!
yup the amount of fabrication it would require really makes it pointless, it would be easier to get a purpose built 12 bolt or 9 inch that's setup to bolt into a 3rd gen.
the 10 bolt rear end goes in pretty slick we did it to our drag car because we gernaded the 7.5 the 10 bolt actully bolts right in and u have more room in under the wheel wells 3/4 of an inch narrow the the 7.5 and no fabrication needed just got to shorten the drive original 10 bolt drive shaft
----------
the camaro you got now looks good chris whats your plans with it or what is done to it

a 10 bolt off of a 4th gen does, a 2nd gen rear end (8.5) would be a ton of work. Those 10 bolts never came on anything without leaf springs. The main problems would be the mounts for the lower control arms, the coil spring mounts and above all others the torque arm mount. No idea what your drag car is but if you bolted in another 10 bolt with no fab work on a third gen f-body it came off of a 3rd gen or 4th gen f-body and was either a 7.5 or 7.625 inch rear. By your discription of the rear being shorter you are talking about bolting in a weaker 3rd gen rear into a 4th gen, that is if you are talking about f-bodies.

yes, that would be a 10 bolt out of a 3rd gen or 4th gen f-body, a second gen rear would never work without a ton of fabrication. It would still be a 7.5 or 7.625 in rear end.

yes sorry you are right the 10 bolt out of a 2nd is what you use but you get rid of the springs and you have to fab up for your lca's and shocks ............ we run a 84 firebird runs 10.90 and 60'fts at 1.47
not a verry big job to do just got to measure off your 7.5 and trasfer over and take 3/8 of an inch on each side into play beacuse its 3/4 shorter than the 7.5 and weld your brackets on
