some pics of the 89 IROC that everyone keeps asking me about

i picked this car up back in the beginning of september. i bought it as a gift to myself after my g/f of over a year and i broke up...i thought it would be a great gift for getting my mind off her. it's an 89 lb9 auto IROC. well...it definitely got my mind off her, but holy crap, this car was a basket case for a long time. i've just now got it to were most everything works on it. as you can see by the door panels, the interior was originally grey. it also was in the middle of an a/c delete when i bought it and i put all new a/c stuff in it. all i have to do now is get it recharged. i also had to hook up the junk 2.5" flowmaster catback as the previous owner had put hedman shorties on it, but didn't get the y-pipe hooked up to the intermediate pipe.

so, i fixed all that stuff, then i also fixed alot of ignition system problems. once all of it was done, i gave teh car to my dad and he gave me a moser 9" to put in my white car as a trade. i think we both made out pretty well.

here's a list of things the car already had:
-2.5" junk flowmaster catback (really wanna do a 3" magnaflow)
-hedman shorties and y-pipe
-k&n air filters w/ cut air box
-poly trans mount
-underdrive pulleys
-crane AFPR
-aluminum trans pan
-85-87 IROC wheels (it was a factory 15" wheel car)

here's what i've done to it so far
-3.45 posi disc brake 9bolt w/ lca relocation brakets
-brand new accel plug wires (can you see them? )
-brand new accel super coil
-brand new distributor/cap/rotor
-summit brand fuel pressure guage on 3' of fuel line so i can see it anywhere i want to position it.
-a/c install
-set base timing at 12* initial
-TPiS air foil
-145mph speedo cluster install
-full black interior swap...i know...the driver's side seat is rough...but much better than before.

here's what i've got planned for it still
-WRC (Walter Racecraft) built SFC's
-WRC built STB
-WRC boxed stock lca's/panhard rod w/ poly's
-possible WC/T5 swap
-1991 camaro l98 camshaft swap
ok, ok, here's the pics:

here's the two parts cars that are donating their front ends to the iroc, since it's in such rough shape

Looks like you're making good progress, the red parts car doesnt look so bad, why are you parting it out?

who said i was parting it? lol! i'm using it for the parts i need, then i'll use the not so nice stuff to put on it, and build it using the spare parts i have lying around the house. the black 88 iroc on the other hand is in ROUGH shape. i bought it under the impression it could be fixed. when i pulled the interior out of it to swap into the iroc above, i found the floor had buckled

regardless, the red 89 rs was rode hard and put away wet. it's got an lo3 with a slung rod and the interior was so far gone i didn't think we could salvage it, so it's gone...but i'll put it together one day...

Looks like its coming along pretty well so far.

How much did you pick it up for? I would love to pick up a higher mileage TPI car to mod the **** out of for an inexpensive price, but it seems like every f-body around here has an astronomical asking price.

lol, no. it's an IROC. i won't do that to an IROC. my 1990 RS was a nothing special car. 3.1/auto so it wasn't that big of a deal to change it. i'm more of a stock-nazi than most people might think

well, i don't imagine it'll be any kind of crazy anything. probably just a nice strong daily driver. it's my dad's car right now. after i get out of college, i'd like to buy it back. if that happens, i'll probably just put a 4" bore kit in it and possibly a t56 or something...i don't have any personal plans for it other than an l98 camshaft swap. i only want to do that because it's got a ticking lifter, so i want to put new lifters in it. i figure while i'm in there, i might as well do a the camshaft swap since i have the camshaft anyways.

my dad is planning on putting my old cowl hood on it. i'm acquiring a good condition IROC hood for free. i have every intention to paint it the same color as the car and put it on when i buy the car back.
