Just installed the reverse glow white dials overlays !! with pics
Today I received the overlays and just installed them with some patientcy
normal steps remove the cluster from the car and remove the clear cover and after the black thin plate over the gauges
after slowly remove the gauges from the white cluster carrier, ont the tacho remove the needle stoppers and after ,begin to lay over the overlays and I noticed that a small mod is needed, by using a plyer and bend the black instrument face down so the over lay wire connection gets in place without being bent and the overlay can sit even on the gauge face. after put in place again the needle stoppers,
after remove the 3 small gauges and do same thing but use some glue to put them in place and after the speedo!!
reverse to put all the gauges in place and place all the wires by 1st put the speedo and finish with the tacho so you can go out with the wires from the lower right side of the cluster!
Re: Just installed the reverse glow white dials overlays !! with pics
Attache you have a pic to see were I went out with the wires, and another to see the overlays in place and after go to a 12 volts supply and check that they work!!
after go in a comfortable place and with a red permanent marker make the needles red so they will be visible on the white colour!!
Re: Just installed the reverse glow white dials overlays !! with pics
I forgot to tell you that you have to remove the original bulbs so the reverse glow can work perfectly, after install everything and find a good place for the supply for the inverter and dimmer switch, and put again everything in place and have fun with then coz they look fantastic , and fabulous in the night but I am sorry to say that the needles are still a bit hard to see them but I am going to try soemthing so they will glow as bright as possible!!
Re: Just installed the reverse glow white dials overlays !! with pics
Well my instrument cluster is a bit different then yours. But somebody probably has a kit for it. I don't know if i'll be able to manage the install by myself either lol
Today I also installed again the blue led's I had before on original gauges and the needles look better but instead of dark black the reverse glow changed a bit the colour to dark grey!!!
will send pics soon also were i relocated the dimmer switch!
The biggest problem issue with reverse glow is that you cannot see the milometer and odometer if you remove the original cluster bulbs and the reverse glow looks perfect but you cannot see the needles!!
but today i re installed the ble led's 194 and the reverse glow dont works perfectly because the base of the gauges instead of pure black looks darg grey but you can see odometer and also you can see the needles!!
will attach pics tonight but still in the pics needles not seen as seen in person!!
for the link you attached ask of they are stickers because if am i not wrong i baught a set from him and they are computer sticker paper and printed and in my opinion thay dont look nice!!(mine are still in my garage on a shelf!!)
Re: Just installed the reverse glow white dials overlays !! with pics
Here I am updating the last steps I did with the last pics!!
1) reverse glow dials with dimmer switch in maximum position and with led's
2) reverse glow switched off in lowest position on the dimmer switch and
led's on with sidelights switch, (also reverse glow go on with sidelights
switch but off with dimmer switch)
3) the location where i fitted the switch under the cluster over the vent
lever (sorry for the bad quality pic)
The plastic was drilled with a 6mm drill and on the inner side with same
driller I drilled half way in the plastic to make the place for the switch
dowel so when you tighten the 10mm flat nut the switch remains in same
position!
Be sure that you meausure so when you screw the screw of the cluster
bezzel ,you dont screw it in the switch!
Hope I explainedas good as I can!! dont forget that english is not my
language!
Re: Just installed the reverse glow white dials overlays !! with pics
I have the same ones, love em to death. And for 22 bux you can't go wrong!
Edit: I too can't see the needles barely at night but its worth it to look at the glorified numbers and dashes!!!! If i want to see my needles i turn on the lights (all blue bulbs-not leds) and they light it up nicely where i can still see the reverse somewhat and plenty of the needle. I will take more pics tonight.
Re: Just installed the reverse glow white dials overlays !! with pics
hey looks great so you cant just put the bulbs for you needles back in that what i did i even painted my needles red and they work great with it plus i found my on ebay for $1.99 i think they go for about 50 bucks now here is a pic with orange needles
Re: Just installed the reverse glow white dials overlays !! with pics
ya with the lights on they look decent, i still have 1 or 2 white bulbs back there that i haven't changed. put the bulbs in about 2 years ago and when i installed my overlays i didn't take the whole cluster out -- lazy or smart, a bit of both i presume. But all in all it looks great and i'll recommend the ones on ebay to anyone. Seems to be of good quality.
Re: Just installed the reverse glow white dials overlays !! with pics
ive got one of these overlay things for my s10 it just sticks on over the original and uses the original bulbs and stuff what turned me off for my camaro was the fact that i need a separate dimmer switch
Re: Just installed the reverse glow white dials overlays !! with pics
maybe some kind of paint that glows at night off the little light that the overlays do put off??? i don't even know though, i will search with you and find the answer though because the overlays look great on by themselves and thats the way i want to keep it but i would like to see the needles better myself.

after a quick search i've found this website, looks pretty good so far...

I believe i might be purchasing from ebay, once again, found a cheaper alternative there. Heres some more green glow paint for more than half off that site.
Re: Just installed the reverse glow white dials overlays !! with pics
hey would that 145 speedo sticker go over the 115 speedo i have in my 89 iroc or will there be a problem cause i cant find one that will only go to 115
Re: Just installed the reverse glow white dials overlays !! with pics
I also installed these gauges. Came out nicely. However, instead of bending the metal (which looks like it worked nicely), I dremeled out a slot for each of the power cables. I then routed the wires through empty light holes through the back for a nice clean finish. Used model glue to tack down the gauges (they don't stay). Some clusters have no need to use glue, but the Camaro cluster is an exception to that. Also mounted my light control to the left just under the cluster as well. Came out pretty good:
Will be trying to paint the needles with reactive paint of some sort in the future, or perhaps even an led-needle mod. These, btw, are the $20 ebay specialties. Have them on this Camaro and my Sonata.
Re: Just installed the reverse glow white dials overlays !! with pics
Alright Manovox and others interested in the glow in dark needles!!! I've received the paint today ( 7 bux on ebay - green at night, clear during the day) but didn't have time to do it with it getting dark at 6pm. Tommorow I will paint and post pics at night time hoping for a solution to all of our problems. (that's if my camera works) In reply to someone looking for the 115 gauge overlays they don't have them, I asked them before I got mine. Not being able to find a 145 mph speedo at the junkyard and being impatient I installed them over the 115 anyways, for the most part its pretty much the same from what I can tell (pacing traffic on highways and other roads). I do plan on changing out the speedometer with a 145 when I find one.
Re: Just installed the reverse glow white dials overlays !! with pics
I bought a set of the 115 off ebay a few years ago, i wanted to install them right away and i set off to do it, i ended up breaking off one of the prongs in the dash that slides over one of the pick ups on the tach, i got pissed and pulled it all out and they have been sitting in a box in my closet since than, so i still dont have a working tach, or oil pressure =( but yeah, they do or did make the 115
