Well ive started a couple threads about the car, all of them were when i was doing some work on it. my engine bay thread is the thread that got the most views. but ive never posted my car in the Members Camaro section. never really thought it was worthy of being in here, but i guess maybe somebody may want to look at it.
My name is Michael Sparks, Im 18 years old, and currently unemployed (economy) so since i dont have an income i wont be buying new parts every week. i got many plans for this car. not all of it will happen overnight. thought about selling this car but its not worth much.
current plans
-Posi rear with 3:73
-Custom sub frame connectors
-Lower the front 2 inches, and the back maybe 1/2 inch
-New Adjustuble panhard bar
-Custom control arms
-Custom LCARB's
-Gonna try the 50 dollar paint job (Rustoleum Paint) we'll see how that works out
-Single Line IROC wheels with new tires
-Grid Taillights
-True Duals
-4 inch fiberglass cowl (not sure which brand just yet)
-8 point roll bar with racing seats and 4 point harness
theres much more, but most of it is small things.
like i said all these things wont happen overnight. mostly made this thread just to kind of show my car a little bit, maybe talk about some other ideas and find out what kind of hood to get.
i havent really seen to many 1988 Sport Coupes on this site, mostly cause sport coupes arnt very desirable. maybe im just not lookin very hard. if you have an 1988 sport coupe post some pictures of your car id like to see it. I know only the 88 sport coupes had the low rise spoiler on the back (which you would think would KIND OF make it SORT OF rare, but i guess it doesnt )
Story of this car, i bought it in Champaign Illinois for 350 bucks on December 20th 2008. engine was "frozon" so i took it home and took and put my fingers in the intake and it was only slushy. overnight in a heated garage the engine thawed and it started right up. bought a new radiator and drove it around for about 100 miles till the engine finally blew up. put a carbd 305 in it and been drivin it around for a while now, and no problems. except that the hood blew off and folded in half.
well sorry this was so long, itll be the last thread i ever make for this car, ill just put in updates as i go. not for everybody here, but somewhat for me to read someday and see how far i came. thanks for reading!
like i said if anybody wants to put in some input or show off their cars, feel free to!
This is my personal favorite. the pics are out near grain bins with corn in them. i live in middle of nowhere. 10 houses in my town, and its a 20 mile radius of corn field. the CLOSEST city is Peoria which is 20 miles away.
so tell me what you think. yes i know i need to lower the front, its getting lowered this week sometime. thanks guys.
i would get a maaco paint job instead of doing a rustoleum one. i got my car painted at maaco and it came out good. just do the bodywork yourself.
heres some pics of my 88 sport coupe
when i got it
and after i added foglights, a hood and the paint job

no, but you'd do rustoleum? you'd be better off with a 500 dollar job. why not just primer it until you get funds for a paint job? that would be better in the long run.

id rather do a rustoluem paint job because ive seen some really good results out of them. and my family has PLENTY of experience with painting, my father has won many awards for his paint jobs. id rather spend 50 bucks then spend 500 bucks anyday. and primer would just look 10X worse than my paint job already.
i completely agree with 88camaroscv6. but if your confident about painting it yourself then go for it. id love to see how it turns out. as for me im prob gonna get my uncle to paint mine after he does his camaro.. i know i cant do it or afford it.
lol guys i never said i was painting it first, i just said what i was going to paint it with. that list up there is not a list in order, its just listing all the things i need to do to this car.
I was looking at your car and the peels just like my car. what is it with that year paints. i just got mine painted on the top of the hood, top and back end with grey, it looks pretty good. the guy said that the clear coat was bad or left off. mine looks better now. i am ready for the summer can't wait. tks
