Bought a set of S-10 extreme rims today with p235/55/R16 Traction T/A's...
Only used in the summer for two years, paid $500.00 Canadian, and another $5.00 at the wrecker for lug nuts with the external threads to hold the center cover on I think I got a sweet deal...and they look great...
Let me know what you think. I know there is a more intricate set of extreme rims out there..but I think these look better.
Thanks, She has 150K Kilometers Canadian non CC'd I did a vortec 906 Head, cam and intake swap over the winter now she's a rocket !!! All stock interior and exterior except the rims :-)
Here is closer shot. I love the fact that they have the Chevy Bowtie in the middle of the cap. For anyone who is wondering direct fit...no spacers ect....
I had to go to the wrecker and get 20 lug nuts, that have the external threads to hold the center cover on.
those are ZQ8 wheels. not xtreme rims, i like there more.
I'm not sure of the RPO number but in Canada you only saw these rims on the s-10 Extreme....from the factory for certain years. Many extreme trucks had the other style as well buyt I liked these better. Which option is ZQ8?
The suspension package comes standard on the S-10 Xtreme and 1996-1998 S-10 SS models, but was also available as a separate package. The package included a total lowered ride height of approximately 2" over stock (1.5" from suspension, ~0.5" from shorter tire diameter), thicker front sway bar (33mm), rear sway bar (23mm), quicker ratio (12:1) steering box, upgraded Decarbon or Bilstein gas shock absorbers, and a frame brace on extended and standard cab models.
The lowering was achieved using front coils with a different spring rate, and a 3-leaf rear spring pack.
Wheels and tires were also upgraded to 16" x 8" cast aluminum rim with 235/55/16 Goodyear Eagle GA tires. The style of the wheel was determined if the vehicle had the Xtreme package or not. There are 2 versions of "ZQ8" wheels - 1996-2000, known most commonly as "old style", and 2001-2003, most commonly known as "new style".
The suspension package can be retrofit to any 1982-2003 2wd S-Series truck, although some parts require modification.
They look good and that is one awesome looking 83, how old is the paint job? What is the engine from? Post some more pics! I'd love to see some different angles. How about some underhood shots?
i been thinkin of some S-10 wheels, but they were the swirl type. one of the many wheels i been lookin at. i also like how they have the chevy bowtie on the center cap.
Hey RED_DRAGON_85 I agree it is kinda ironic that you see a lot of s-10's with camaro rims. I never thought of that until you posted. Funny and true!
sloick - Thanks for the info on the rims..I had no idea..Just made assumptions because that is all i had seen. Thanks it is interesting and if people ask at least I can tell em what they really are.
OK 89Rspower, I have few more pics for ya. But first a little info...I bought the car about two years ago for $3500.00 canadian. It was a LG4, 200c, and 2.91 open rear end. I'm the third owner, and it's had one paint job...(there's a story with that).
Over the last two winters I got a 1974 010 block that was built for circle track, put on worked over 906 Vortecs, cam and intake to match, I reworked the q-jet, headers, and sub frame connectors. Put in a 700r4 from a 91 Camaro, and a 3.23 posi, rebuilding almost everything on the way. I learned so much from this site it is unreal Thanks to F-bird 88, and others on this site. By posting your victories and losses it is easy to go the right way. Next....I have window triangles and door seals on order. I also need front struts...still original on there now! and a wheel alignment. I'm sure more stuff will pop up but man I'm happy with it. I had a 83 when I graduated from high school in 85, wrapped that one around a telephone pole...not so good, but I always liked these cars. I know a lot of guys do the same 350 .030 over ect, ect, but they do it cause it's easy to work on and cheap. I'll probably only put a few thousand K on this summer, but it'll be fun......Thanks for all the replies guys!!!!
I don't like the look of another cars wheels on another car. Reminds me of the people in ghetto's who always have mix matched wheels on their cars, in which the wheels DO NOT originate from. Just looks funky I guess.
P.S. The offset look it gives looks GREAT, but the wheel originality and style doesn't work in my eyes.

I do like the stock rims on these cars and they look good, the only thing is I wanted something a little different, with more of a shine to them. The five spoke configuration keeps the style of the original rim only these are a lot brighter. I kept the original rims and maybe one day they'll go back on but for now, I'll keep these. Each to their own I guess
those are the ZQ8 wheels . i have had them on my 2 previous & present car . i love mine . i got mine off ebay . as for fit , mine would not fit well over the rear drum hubs . a couple of passes around the center hole with 80 grit drum sander in a drill , perfect fit . i have BFG G Force Sport in 245/50 ZR16 on mine . they are a true 8in. wheel . i get many good comments on mine . good luck , nice car .
ShootingStar... These were a direct fit,I did no grinding on the rims and there were no binding issues on the center holes. Make sure you use the right lug nuts with a taper and the external threads to hold the lug nut covers on. ( as stated above I got mine at the wrecker for $5.00 ) As far as I know the s-10 use the exact 5 x 4.5 bolt pattern, but if you have oversize studs on your rear end or front hubs that may cause an issue, my studs are stock. At a car show this summer I took second for people's choice. Most people commented on the rims making the car stand out.
