Although I may be new to Thirdgen.org I am no stranger to 3rd gens. In high school I drove a busted '86 firebird as a daily driver to replace my newly painted '79 Trans Am that I no longer trusted to let sit in a school parking lot.
(Unfortunately I never took a picture of the firebird)
(1979 Pontiac Trans Am)
I eventually sold that firebird to help get a much nicer and cleaner '89 silverado.
After many more vehicle purchases and trades I have decided that I no longer wish to wast loads of money on frivalious automobile payments month-in and month-out.
stupid but fun vehicle purchases:
(2006 Chevrolet Cobalt SS Supercharged)
(2005 Pontiac GTO A4)
(2003 Nissan Frontier 4x4 Crew Cab Supercharged) Yeah bought a house at this point and thought I needed a truck. No picture of it on this computer though.
So after a few years of this I set off on a quest to find the perfect 3rd gen camaro or trans am. I always remembered how much I wish I had kept the firebird and fix it up to a great daily driver.
Eventually I found a lead on a 1988 Camaro with a 305 V8 and 4spd auto (hey we can't win them all)
This 1988 Camaro Sport Coup is probably the most base model V8 you can get, but I think I actually really prefer it that way. This is the most unmolested car I have ever come in contact with. After a few regular maitainance repairs and a new set of tires this car will be road ready.
So now I share with you a few pictures I took as I started clean up on it.
(the rear dealer sticker indicates that this is a local car)
(a good shampooing should get these carpets in order)
(Oh did I mention only 39,000 thousand original miles?)
I basically plan on seeing how this car really looks after I clean it up. I might see if I can get a repaint from the door molding up. After that I will mostly do things that make this thing a breeze and joy to drive everyday. I'll be updating this thread as I go so I hope you enjoy!
Wow, that car looks EXACTLY like what mine used to look like. It's like a clone, lol

Looks like a sweet solid car! are you sure its 39,000 and not 139,000 the digests get kinda 'non straight' looking after it rolls over, as urs kinda does, but maybe the title says 39,000? or you carfaxed it?

That is definitely something you have to look out for with these cars. However I am very confident that is true mileage. You can look at some things on the car and just know they have not worn like they would on a car with 139k miles. The engine, suspension, and other typical long wear items do not show any signs of wear or replacing.
Also, I bought the car from the original owner. They only drove the car around town and it eventually sat for a while.
