well i figured id start my own little thread since the car is nearing completion. shes come a long way since i got it.
that was two years ago, hiding under all that pretty paint the po put on it was a pile of rust and half assed repairs and not to mention the paint itself was a crappy job. amazing how good a crappy car can look in pics. so i got it in august of 2007 unaware of all the previously mentioned problems. i drove 6 hours to get it and 6 hours back. then over the next month i spent roughly 2 grand on a new floor, two new rear wheel wells, a new windsheild, four new tires and a few mounts and bushings and stuff just to make the thing road worthy. i got to drive it for a few weeks then it was time for winter storage. so winter passes by and i take it out and everything is running good and strong, i have it out about a week someone backed into the front drivers side fender, left a huge dent. so i get a new fender and before i get it painted and put on the following week some doofus cuts me in a silverado and i end up with this:
spent the rest of the summer rebuilding it, needed a new hood and a new fender along with the latch support. the rad support was bent and is now straightend and everything is perfect. you would never know this car was in an accident. so i was left with this:
and boom its winter time again.

so in the fall i find a motor, 4 bolt main 5.7L:
and over the winter me and my dad rebuilt it into this:
just a stock rebuild for now to replace the worn out, tired 305 and i also had the tranny rebuilt and we got it in and running strong:
ok motors done, so the car is 100% rust free now, runs like a champ and all the panels are straight and line up perfect. now im getting excited. time for paint and body work.
and here i am now:
so she is now all prepped and ready for paint. its going to be pretty much the same color with silver gfx and the sides of the cowl are going to be silver. heres the paint mix if anyone is interested its a custom mix:
and when paint is done its straight to the exhaust shop. i ordered the headers and y-pipe last week. i will be updating as things get completed. any suggestions, comments? if it was hard to read i apologize, i was never good in english class.
Give props where props are due. Look's good so far.

Owner of a '91 Firebird with the following..
- 1 boat anchor (3.1)
- 1 slushbox
- rust free shell
heres the tail panel. this is what the final paint will look like minus the rocker guard. my camera really dont do the color justice.
and bye bye old 305 exhaust to make way for my custom 3 inch with flowmaster muffler and hedman headers (hoping they arrive from summit next week)
no the tips arent blue thats over spray from painting the tail panel
got some more done today. shaved the antenna and masked everything off:
and sprayed the primer:
assuming everything goes as planned the car will be sprayed this week
got the body + spoiler + mirrors + gas cap painted to day!! ill lets the pictures do the talking its crappy cell phone pics that do this nooo justice. illl have em up later im busy right now
pics as promised, upon close inspection a bit of dust settled on the hood any ideas? :
reassembly starts tomorrow! (and if you havent noticed i changed my mind on the silver)
another update. pretty well done, still contemplating on the gfx color. ill let the pics do the talking:
there a little dark but what the hell
hedman headers and y-pipe which will be modified to a 3 inch
installed:
new catch can. this was the best place i could find to mount it it cost 15 bucks from summit and is 100 times better then the old yellow catch can that used to be on the car.
I'm from mount pearl, I have a silver 84 camaro here with a 400sbc and a th350 tranny with shift kit. Car still needs alot of work but seeing yours all painted reminds of me what the end result will be.
do you know of any good junk yards out that way? im going to st. johns for labor day weekend with a few friends and i really need to find a non a/c blower motor box and a few fourth gen parts would be nice
humm, i'd try kenny's in kilbride, i know for a fact there is at least one car there and I know they have parts, for fouth gen, try autopartsnetwork on topsail road, you don't have any spare stuff kicking around do ya?
man the only good thing about wrecking the car is you can buyild it back to whatever you want. the other day i got all the gfx painted ( Mercedes alpine rain effect is the color, its a metallic silver with a blue tint) and installed it yesterday but it was raining so this is the only decent pic so next step is the exhaust shop.
I've never thought about painting my car blue, but the blue you picked looks good. I'm gonna go with a sweet red that you find on the new Caddys and also GMC vehicles. It'll be close to the red I chose for my last Camaro from that post I gave ya, but it'll be a brighter hue.
been a while since an update. ive been busy driving it! exhaust is done i wanted a 3 inch single pipe but they couldn't find the proper muffler so they stuck a jones fullboar (identical to flowmaster super 40 i think) on the the y-pipe and ran two 2 1/4 inch pipes back from there with 3 inch chrome tips, sounds amazing!! anyway gave her a quick rinse today. still needs a power steering pump and im shopping for a new interior. are these things ever actually done?
got my antique plates!
Damn dude, car looks great. A new set of wheels would really throw it off.
