what glue for emblems

Got it painted, now to put the emblems back on. What do I use in the way of adhesive to install the rear bumper emblem. It originally had a glue backing which is long gone. sticky tape is too thick, soooo silicon or weather strip glue or what?

Re: what glue for emblems

i would use the 3m tape.. it comes in different thicknesses, sticks well, and is relatively easy to remove if you ever need to.

Re: what glue for emblems

I'd say epoxy, you can get it at any auto parts store. When I got my new emblems they had the 3m tape on them and in about a week they fell off the car. The only thing they held to was the metal emblem, cause I had to scrap it off. The epoxy works great and it will not have the emblem sticking out like the tape does.

Re: what glue for emblems

You could use 3M double sided tape or 3M also makes a special adhesive just for emblems.

Re: what glue for emblems

I used the 3M tape (on fresh paint too) and never had a problem or lost an emblem. Just make sure the surface is room temp. and clean and it will stick forever.

the adhiesive they got nowadays is extemely strong, the only way i see it coming off is if you didn't prep the surface correctly
