Re: My Z28

I'm amazed at how nice the wheels still look. Not too much body damage, either.

Re: My Z28

Thanks you guys! It is a Z28, not an IROC. It has a 305 tpi in it with 3.23 gears, according to the rpo code in the console (assuming the console has not been changed out). It runs pretty good, but I want much more. It needs a little work to run optimally in stock form, but it's a good thing that will keep me busy and also allow me to have some fun.

Re: My Z28

Brisk, it's in a little bit better condition than my 87 was, but it's slower with less torque, due to the smaller engine. I liked the 350 way better. I plan to hop up the 305 for now cuz I'm broke and also do not feel like pulling the entire engine. BOTH cars have showed the same problem of overheating, and I changed the water pump on my 87 and that fixed the problem. I ordered an aluminum high output water pump for this car and have also replaced the radiator because the old one leaked all over the place. Just the heavy duty autozone water pump I put on my last Camaro helped it a TON, so this aluminum H.O. water pump should really help the little 305 stay cool.

Re: My Z28

Since I bought the car, I've yanked all the smog and a/c stuff off the engine. I don't need ANY of that stuff here in beautiful Wyoming. I fixed up my exhaust with straight piping and 2.5" dual exit setup tucked under the rear but will soon add a chambered tube style exhaust piece to the main section of the pipe between the axle and where the cat should be. I love how those chambered tube style mufflers sound. I painted the areas surrounding the headlights flat black. Looks way better than body color there, and I fixed my one hood insert that was held in by wires twisted up and under the hood.

I yanked the seats and carpet for Spohn subframe connectors that will be welded in on Wednesday (don't want to burn the carpet up). I am about to install a Weiand aluminum hiflo water pump and a standalone radiator cooling fan relay/switch setup that turns on at 185 and off at 170, and I am also about to install Hedman 1 5/8" shorties with Hedman Y-pipe, an Auburn posi, 2600-2800 stall converter, and a transgo shift kit.

OH, and I have to set a few mousetraps up in my car. The little effers like peanut butter...he he.

Early next year, I will install a Lunati Barebones flat tappet cam and new lifters and pushrods underneath modified 059 Vortec heads with Lunati valve springs and probably Magnum roller rockers, all underneath a Holley Stealth Ram and all kept in sync by a custom chip. I'm still trying to decide where to get a chip burned. I should then have myself a 13 secondish car.
