Cyber gray metallic IROC
The IROC finally got painted today. The color is new GM cyber gray metallic. When I got it in April, it was white and lacking clear coat. So I spent the better part of my summer sanding down the 7 layers of paint and doing some minor body work. I decided painting it myself was something Im definitely not ready for. So I tore it apart and drove it there with just the hood, wheels, and driver seat to cut down on the price.
Some pictures during the body work:
Painted:
now I know some of y'all are gonna hate me for it, but I had the headlight buckets AND the door handles painted body color. It really is a subtle change that gives it a smoother look.

Think my wife has me talked into using this color for the two tone on my hard top.
Love it though!

It's a pretty fine flake. I'm almost done putting it back together so I'll try to take some better pics tomorrow.

Cyber Gray looks better on a Third Gen than on the Corvette IMO.

Sorry it took so long, but here's a few pics of it all put together and cleaned up. Its actually missing the emblems right now, but thats it.
And i tried to get a close-up pic to show the flake, so that's what this is:

Re: Cyber gray metallic IROC
That color looks awesome, great choice!! I did my headlight buckets in gloss black but color matched might be the way to go next itme. In fact, everthing on mine that was flat black from the factory was changed to gloss black. The hood louvers are so much easier to maintain and look nice in gloss black.

After seeing your pictures, i am seriously thinking of sporting a color similar, if not the same, to one of my cars, the next time i decide to repaint one.

Re: Cyber gray metallic IROC
I love the color. It would really pop with black headlight buckets though. And another nice touch would be adding the IROC door decals in a lighter silver, with the same color silver and a black double IROC pinstripe along the ground effects like stock. It's begging for some chrome wheels!

Re: Cyber gray metallic IROC
Thanks! The black buckets are just something I'm personally not very fond of. The decals will be coming eventually but aren't a top priority right now. I'd also really like a set of 18" torque thrust IIs to go with it.

I guess I'm just one of those guys that when they see body color headlight buckets, it screams "RallySport"

Re: Cyber gray metallic IROC
Well it came out to roughly $2000. Although, my family's known him for about 15 years when he did my dads 70 chevelle. The price was for him doing basically all the body work, masking, shooting bc/cc, and sanding/buffing. I'm not sure on the price for the color itslef because he got it.
I don't know if were looking at the same picture, but I think the door was ajar when the pics were taken.
Got a box made in the hatch well for the two pioneer 6x9's that got replaced with new kenwoods. They hit pretty hard for what they are...kinda like a poor man's sub enclosure. I'll try to get some pics up this weekend. Doesn't look too bad for our first go at it.

she is finished. Maaco did a good job. Gotta love this color. It has blue flake in it when the sun hits it. Beautiful! I'm truly pleased.
