He most likely didn't want any of that fine body shop dust in your lungs
I, too, am glad that you made it out of your surgery.

I like that color on the car. Was that a school/college body shop?

Yah Yah i know why he didnt want me to, he restricted me from going to work but I still went in two weeks earlier then I was supposed to

Its a little bit of both. Its called lake career and technical center. They offer classes for; collision repair, automotive technology, power sports tech, marine classes, metal fab, digital graphics, photography, computer design, smart home design, home building, health oc, and a couple more. They offer classes to students and they also have a couple of adult classes. Its a completely seperate building from the school but it is on campus. They just made a new addition this summer which double the shop space. I havent had the chance to get back home to look at it yet though and Im not even sure if my college offers such a class. But because of the class I took I am already Paint Certified, and a couple other certifications that are slipping my mind.

I owe a huge thanks to my teach Gary Briscoe, he is a great teacher and a great friend.

Im not sure when I will be able to get it completely finished, Im going to college in St. Joseph, Mo which is about 4hrs away from my car and right now they got it running but its lean missing and Im pretty sure it has to do with the metering block. Im headed back this weekend to check on it and to get baptized but I wont have much time to work on it if it is done. I still need to put some sort of exhaust on, install guages, and align the body before I can get it inspected.

Just skimmed thru the pics.... nice paint!

On the lungs, was it cancer? Also did they take the whole lung or only a lobe?

Thanks, it wasn't cancer. Apparently i got an infection some unknown time ago and my body walled it off but in January when I got pnemonia the infection busted loose an attacked my body. I had 4 absesis in my lower right lobe so they removed just that lobe. Which all in all I am fortunate that it wad my lower one, the only thing I've had to learn to do is I had to teach myself how to control my breathing. I am currently in the army ROTC program at missouri western state university but because they took my scholarship away bc of the medical disqualification I am not contracted in but I still wake up at 0600 on M,W,F for PT which is normally a 2mile run and a small work out, with controlling my breathing I am able to be in the top 10 to finish everytime. I am goin through the appeals process to get the scholarship back though. If I'm beatin other people I don't see why I shouldn't be let in

Re: My 92 Z28 build write up (finally)

Glad to hear all is well then !

Just a tip, IMO I think it would compliment the car to polish the lip of the black ZR1's or paint them silver and also do the headlight buckets in satin black.

Good luck with the ARMY and getting the car finished!

Re: My 92 Z28 build write up (finally)

I'm going be putting some black on the sides of the hood scoop, and there is a lttlie chrome lip on the wheels that's hard to see in the picture. I was even thinking on doing an orange lip on the wheel but I'm going to be testing all my ideas with vinyl first just to get a look at it.

Your Z is looking good. Also good to see your doing well. Them hospital pics about made me pass out. Why did you take the TPI off and switch it to a carb ? Was it running bad or you just dont Like the TPI set up ?

Sorry about that. I was having a lot of issues with the TPI and basically the whole computer even after replacing it. When I started looking into getting more power I noticed it started getting pretty expensive. So I decided to go the carbed route but ran into problems when an intake bolt broke off in the head, and after sitting for almost a year outside decided it would be cheaper to have a new engine built then spend the money to have someone prep this one just to see if it might work. Lets just say when they pulled the engine and pulled the plug A LOT more water came out of the pan then oil. The guy who built the new engine is a very expirienced engine builder, he builds race engine for circle track cars and he was a very good person as well. Built this engine for $1500 with all quality parts, and even took pictures of the entire build for me.

Re: My 92 Z28 build write up (finally)

Update: Throttle cable and TV cable installed. Been drivin it around the road I live on without any fenders or hood until I get my doors aligned. (no plates and no exhaust, so havnt driven it anywhere too public)

Installed my cyberdyne digital gauges. Still need to install oil pressure sender and water temp sender along with the pillar gauges that have the oil and volt gauges in it.

Just been going at the little things. I also tinted my windows with precut window tint just to get an idea of how dark they will be, Was way to cold to be tinting outside and Im having them proffesionally tinted so no worrys.

Windows tinted 35% on the sides with I assume faded 5% on the back. I am either going with 5% or 2.5% on the back to make the front look darker.

Cyberdyne digital gauges, custom blinker and hi-beam indicators. I used the trim piece for my old gauges and fiberglassed it closed then cut out the holes, used spray on bed liner, then went over with a little black. I will def touch it up when it gets a bit warmer out and I will add some black vinyl around the steering column.

Re: My 92 Z28 build write up (finally)

Thought I would post up some pics of my 94 GSXR 750 painted to match. Before and after pics of my wreck on Oct 31 at 1am. Layed her down doin 110+mph, got up walkin away while the bike was sliding down the road. Was in full military uniform with all my riding gear on when it happend, ripped a hole in my ACU bottoms and got some road rash on my rear, and somehow tore the laces in half on my desert boots and melted the side of em, tweaked my ankle but no biggy. Oh and possible minor concussion, i didnt go to the hospital. One of my fraternity brothers and I pushed the bike back to school, cops showed up as we were pushin it down the sidewalk just ran my info and left. I was def workin my Guardian Angles on overtime last year.

Wow, your lucky to be alive after wrecking at 110 with no gear on. Next time wear your gear because you may not be as lucky if it happens again. I got pretty scraped up when I laid down my buddys bike at about 50, I cant even imagine 110.

I never ride without gear. Had helmet, gloves, and leather jacket. And I always wear boots and jeans unless I am in uniform like that day. The post right above yours shows my helmet, jacket, and bag that I had on after the wreck.

Very nice car! I was like "oh sweet car progress" and then I saw tubes hanging out of you and I wanted to puke. Then I went on thinking to myself, "man, he's lucky to be alive after that surgery" and next thing I know I'm thinking "holy f*ck! He laid his bike down at 110 MPH and lived yet again". You're down to 7 lives, use them wisely.

Yah Im not even a fan of skull helmets, had an old neighbor fall asleep on his harley and peeled the skin down his face, luckly they were able to sew it back up. I used to have a mesh jacket but after a buddy of mine that I had gotten into riding motorcycles wrecked his Honda VTX 1300 doin 60 with a mesh jacket on and saw how tore up he got I decided to spend the $300 on a jacket that would actually protect me and it sure as hell did!

Haha I've been a bit wiser since the motorcycle wreck but with the all the other close calls that Ive had in life with sports, motocross and just plain being dumb Ive already used up my 7, dont know where these other ones are comin from.

I know all about having lung issues. I've had both my lungs operated on. Covered in scars, chicks dig em

Nice build. I've redone a few 3rdgens so far, working on another one as we speak. Haven't wrecked a bike yet but I'm sure that will come later down the road for me. Jumping cars, drifting accidents, mini bike derby's etc. You only live once lol...

Idk It seems like chicks dig the bike over the car and then the scars just seal the deal. Only thing I need now is a big truck and there is no resisting lol

the outside of the car looks great, but that gauge cluster looks like butt-munch. you're very talented to do all that body work, and that gauge cluster looks like an 8 y/o did it, not something i'd expect out of your body working skills.

oh, and with your luck, i'd be buying lottery tickets dude!

Ya Ya Ya I know lol. It needs the proper treatment, just didnt have time and I wanted to get them in and see if they would work. Theres a good chance that Ill pull it out this week and sand it down and shoot it with some hi build primer and go from there. Or better yet since that was really my first attempt at fiberglass I could do it the way I really wanted to and have the gauges seem like they are coming out towards you. Im gunna start drawing it up and see what I can come up with but until then Ill pull it out and get workin on what I have.

I tried the scratch of tickets and all ive ever won is 2 bucks and a free play. Maybe the lottery is where its at haha

Re: My 92 Z28 build write up (finally)

I watched the vid knowing what happens as I've had it happen to me lol...nothing queezy about it though, doctor covers it all up. Those are some pretty sweet scars dude, staples always look pretty.

I agree with Matt on the gauge panel, it's pretty rough. Personally, I like the brushed aluminum or stainless dash panels.
