So honestly, I have no idea how it drives, but at $800 it was a bargain.

The previous owner threw a rod in cyl #1

So the block is probably trash.

but lucky for me, i've got a 350 shortblock sitting around. lets see how this goes

Re: 89 RS Build thread

Whats up with the A/C compressor, and the air box? I have never seen anything like that on a third gen...

Also whats that on the drivers side, underneath the intake elbow piece?

Nice project.

i think it was an a/c delete car, my dad is pretty sure the compressor is aftermarket

i think the airbox is a k&n, it's got k&n stickers under the hood

i'm not sure what you're talking about under the intake

Definitely an aftermarket type deal. Pretty neat as I have never seen anything like it.

The metal box-looking thing that is on the drivers side frame-rail is what I am referring to. It isn't factory either, whatever it is lol

Engine is ready to be pulled out. Unfortunately, it's frozen, so we had to pull the trans out too, since we couldn't unbolt the torque converter from the flywheel

also i found out that box you were asking about, is some aftermarket cruise control (so my dad says)

Re: 89 RS Build thread

That was a great deal. $800 & the body is in good shape. I got mine for $700. Needed a drivers door that I got for $35 & some other nic nax that I already had from my other camaro. The engine is great in still running strong.

Check out my album.

What better time to swap in a 5.3/5.7/6.0/6.2/7.0, LOL.

Re: 89 RS Build thread

Pretty nice. I always wondered what those Hotwheels wheels would look like on a third gen. I've seen them on second gens before. The wheels and tires are worth what you paid for the car, so that's a real nice deal.

Wow you're right about the wheels. They're pretty pricey. And I think discontinued.
Just an update, the block, new pistons, and rods are at the machine shop
getting the block bored .030 over
