Yes it is a motocraft, They have one of the best constructed filters on the market, we have been using them for 15+ years with zero issues. They are one of the only filters we have found that can withstand high oil PSI.

Compared to filters used in the 80's-90's when these cars were made, basically any oil filter is an improvement, if it ran fine with the ones back then, he's not doing anything wrong now

Ive cut apart more of these filters on the dyno than most have seen in there life, I have no question its a quality filter.

I know, it was generalized, not towards you, most people are so willing to stand behind a product in which they have no real experience with. They listen to whatever themanufacturer shoves down there throats. Oil filters are just an example, just because you see a tv commercial where joe blow says his filters are better than everyone else's dosnt mean it is. and if you decide to pay 15$ for a filter and believe its so much better than anything else out there then thats your problem. Oh and I pay 4$ for my oil filters haha. Im done with my rant now.

sorry bro, never cut open a filter, just always thought motorcraft was a ford thing, i know i know just because they use em doesnt mean there strictly ford but thats just always been my belief sorry to seem so aggressive in my first post, didnt mean to doubt you, just never had a good experience with a motorcraft filter

i'd use mobil1, then again i only run mobil1 oil

I've used fram when I'm going to change it again within a 3 month period but most of the time I use K&N, and match it with practically any oil from Pennzoil high mileage to Castrol GTX, Q-torque, Valvoline.

i had a k&n on it at first when i switched to mobil from whatever may have been in it, hell idk it had 3 types of spark plug when i got it, put ac delcos back in lol is seemed to do the job, and the wrench off nut was handy too

It's all good, this engine is getting broken in on Joe Gibbs breakin oil then I am to go switch to Joe Gibbs XP3 10w30 synthetic racing oil.

What bad experiences have you had with motorcraft filters?

the only bad experiences i've had with a motorcraft filter was when changing the one on my grandpas t bird, it took forever to get it off, ended up being that the actual screw on part seperated from the rest of the filter and we had to twist that off seperate, and inside the actual filtration material had come apart and was everywhere, but then again he didnt take very good care of his t bird, figure i was the only one to ever change the oil that once

probably, ohwell that car blew up long ago and far away, and hes dead now, but regardless of that i suppose that they could be good filters "WHEN USED PROPERLY" lol

Engine is on the dyno, gotta finish hooking it up tommorow, going to fire it saturday AM.

Dynoed the engine saturday morning, I an happy with the results, 473HP and 487 ft-lbs of tq, It made over 420 ft-lbs of tq at 3000 RPM and carried it to 6000. here is a vid of the last pull

After the dyno I got some work done on the car, cleaned out the interior and changed the hatch to a 91/92 hatch w/ a interior mounted third brake light.







Also changed the door lock cylinders.



Also started to laydown some sound deadener, I am hoping this stuff works aswell as people say it does.





After changing the lock cylinders I installed the door panels out of my 1991 Z28, along with the armrests, They are in much nicer shape than the original doorpanels

This is a very nice build. You car is coming along very nicely. Its also nice to see work being done with a Gen 1 small block. I like to new LS motors too but I still love the old school Gen 1 small block.

I completely agree, same thing with fuel injection vs. carb, fuel injection is awesome and had unlimited possibilities, but I love carbs

Looks like our motors are almost twins! Wish I'd had that shop to build mine in! Nice job on the details. I remember taking probably 10 pounds off of the block cleaning up all the flash, opening up the oil galleys and smoothing/ deburring everything. Nice score on those rocker arms!
Huge compliment on the detailed photos showing the progression of your build! One of the best posts I have seen in that regard.

The drivers side floor pan had some minor surface rust so I POR-15'd the entire thing. Passenger side shows what kind of shape this car is in.







On the dyno we had done some blending of the milled off choke horn. Also built some fuel lines last thursday.

man sick build.. and i was in automotive class and we went to statefarms research devision and they did a oil filter test on all filters and purolator did 97% k&n 97% and purolator gold 99%! and fram was the worst lol so i use purolator as for the other brands i didnt pay attetion lol

very nice build. i dont think its boring. but just skimming through the thread, it kind of throws me off in several directions trying to figure out what exactly is happening..so far iv seen 3 differant cars in the thread, and i "think" a couple engines, or engines spoke of, and a TOONNNN of parts lol....but havent seen any final product or anything. so maby ill have to dig through and try to figure out whats going on.

Got the front end fixed up this weekend. I'll post some pics in the am. Also fired up my buddy's ls3 headed 6.0l in his 91 rs.

Picked up a set of double stripe 16" IROC wheels for the car, they are in really nice shape.





Got the Passenger front corner straightened out, Had to replace one piece. Then had it all tig welded back together.





Also got the front bumper horn straightened out back where it is suppose to be.

The heads are heavily worked over GM 906 vortecs, the steering wheel as far as I can tell is a grant formula, It cam with the car and I dont mind it.

Well finally got around to doing some work on the car. A couple weeks back we got in a panic and needed a carburetor for a engine going out the door, So we put my AED 750HO on it and in return my boss bought me a AED 750 HP-HO. Way nicer carburetor, hopefully will make a little bit more power. I will be putting back on the dyno soon.



Took it apart to install 4.5" powervalves, my road race floats, change the jetting and install the ARP stainless float bowl screws. First float bowl screw I tried to take out went about three turns and then got tight.





I was slightly frustrated....

Got it all fixed and back together, going to start with 71 jets and see what the BSFC looks like.



Also changed to a 4" tall air cleaner from a 3"



Also got started with the body work last night, roof and quarter are both ready for high build primer.

Yah im going to keep it black, but for this summer I will just have it in epoxy primer. I will be taking it back apart this winter to paint it and change a few things on the engine. try and squeeze a bit more HP out of it.

Nice, hey hope you don't mind I took your idea and painted my brackets with aluminum paint also. I was going to get them powder coated, but the paint was cheaper lol plus I wanted a coating after bead blasting, to keep it easy to maintain. I have to say it turned out great. Any updates on yours?
