1991 Camaro Rs (Wrecked) (Need Advice)
Well here goes the short story of my Thirdgen.
I received this car for my 16th birthday (about 5 months ago)
This is the way it looked when I first got it. We picked this one up for $2000 on the outside it was a bit rough some rust on the roof, dents and not to mention the hideous spray painted wheels. The interior was not perfect but it had good seats and very good headliner. The motor was the best part it had the stock 305 TBI and it ran great no problems whatsoever it just needed an oil change badly. (The previous owner was and imbecile) after a month we picked up a set of the stock z28 wheels and it made a huge difference. We also sanded of the rust and primered it
So unfortunately after having it for about 2 going on 3 months the car was totaled I know what your thinking this dumb 16 year old went and wrecked his car lol. Well thats not exactly the way it went. My brother was on the way to work ( His car broke down on him so he took mine) the unexpected happens some retard decides he wants to make an illegal U-turn on a red light. They collide and thats the end of that thirdgen. Fortunately my bro walked away okay and so did the other guy. We couldnt get money from the insurance company because the guy was not only uninsured he didnt have a license or papers.
How it sits now **CAUTION** the following pictures are horrifying.
After covering it up

We are going to begin stripping it soon and selling whatever we cant use for the two other thirdgens we have. The motor still turns over but i believe the tranny is bad.

Re: 1991 Camaro Rs (Wrecked) (Need Advice)
So here comes the part where i need advice.
I still really love these cars and I want another one but at the same time I dont feel I should get another one. I just keep going back and fourth on what to do i dont have the money to go and buy a perfect condition one, im not really trying to spend alot of money on one i would like to get another one that runs
good and looks decent for 2000 but i doubt i will get lucky again. If i do happen to get lucky and find one, then im going to have to spend more money on it to get it to look how i want and run how i want. that will be an extra 2 to 3k. When i could save that and just get a newer car.
I guess this is just how life works. Life's a B****

Sorry to hear it, I had something similar happen to my first 3rd gen. If you love them go for another, if not then save up for something you do love.
Sounds like the guy at fault was an illegal? Good luck with that...

Yeah going after him in court would be a waste as far as i know he was deported.
At this point i just want to get this car out of my Driveway and put it behind me. Of course i dont want to forgot about it all completely it is still my first car, i didnt truly understand what it meant to "love" your car or "miss" your car until i lost it, the first few weeks after it happened I just wanted to be able to hear the exhaust roar on the start up one more time.

I'm guessing who didn't have full coverage.
I do on my camaro but I'm old. It probable cost a pretty penny for insurance for a 16 year old.

He didn't need full coverage, just UIM. Fairly cheap for anyone of any age, and no real reason not to have it.
With parts and the price of scrap you should be able to pull seven or eight hundred out of it easily, maybe more if there's something desirable on it that I'm missing. Then buy something else and put the proper insurance on it (good liability and UIM).
You should be tripping over decent Camaros for two grand. I paid $680 for my last one and drove it home.

if the drivetrain is intact I would try to find a clean bodied f body with a bad drivetrain and swap it all over

buy a rolling chassis and swap over the good parts. it'll take some money to do but most of all its more of your time.

When I opened that pic, I literally exclaimed "Holy SH*T!" out loud. That is truly horrific. But yeah, save what you can to sell or put in your next Camaro. All sorts of little tid bits can prove useful, including interior parts. Then take what's left to the scrap yard. The one here pays ~$250 per ton of steel/iron.
