Re: Got another 86 Iroc!!!

Gotta save up the money for it still have a few other odds and ends it needs, like the interior plastics, windshield, clutch pedals/slave and master cylinder: along with a t56. Cheapest ls1 ive found was for 1600 but no oil pan, intake, wiring,(intake isnt a big deal as i want a ls6 intake anyways) i may try to get the engine before the rest and just store it in my bedroom until i have everything else

Re: Got another 86 Iroc!!!

replaced the bulb for the light controls with an led one pretty happy with it still trying to track down all the interior pieces i need. And at the same time saving any money i get so i can at least get the motor, and if someone else wants to know the bulb is a neo 3mm very tiny and easy to lose

The car is going to look badass when it is done.

That yellow stuff on your car is primer?

Well I hope they atleast sanded the car down before they primered it.

The idiots who had my car before just decided to pick up some spray cans of primer and start spraying.

that crap drives ME NUTS!!

Re: Got another 86 Iroc!!!

yeah im glad I picked it upfrom them before they did something stupid like throw paint on it lol.

When I first got the car I was pretty down about how badly it had been treated (kinda regretted buying it), but Ive grown pretty fond of it by now.

Still the way yours started tops the crap out of mine

you definitely deserve a sign for that lol

yeah im most likely going to let the pros handle the body work, I have no clue what the hell I am doing when it comes to all that stuff.

and it can be pretty costly if you dont have all the tools to begin with. Which I dont.

Lmancha, thanks. As for body work all I use is is a body hammer, a few shape dollies, and a hand sanding block. Having a little experience helps but a good eye can take you pretty far anyways that's up to you.

But back to the car all but rear bumper is in pimer and well drivers quarter... still needed a tad more work ill get pics up later tonight but quick ? What's the best way to remove the factory stripes off the front bumper I don't want to use a razor blade or anything unless that's the only way.

Re: Got another 86 Iroc!!!

heat gun, just heat over the stripes, carefully pull up a corner with a razor blade, and start peeling. the heat gun makes it a TON easier, but if you dont have access to one, a hair dryer can also work.

haha no my fiance was trying out the leather seats. Anyways so ive been working on smoothing out the rear bumper its almost there just have a little more to go but going to take a break from it and focus on smoothing the gas cap as some may have seen on my old iroc i smoothed it out used a magnetic clicker to "pop" the door open when I push on it the last one had a few kinks in it but this one should turn out alot better

Re: Got another 86 Iroc!!!

Looking good man! I like those door panels. I hope my camaro will look as good as yours when im done. I just redid the weatherstipping on my ttops with some silicone and fixed my door lock actuators. Just got a b&m megashifter too, gonna put it in next weekend. Over the winter Im gonna try and do the interior switch to a 4th gen like you did. What did you do with the gap on the sides of the dash? and how do those door panels work with the dash?

still havent done anything about the gap... The door panels work great there set back a litlle farther towards the rear of the door and the top part of the handle doesnt stick out nearly as far as the old ones did(they were touching the dash when door was closed) they also seem to flow better with the 4th gen stuff.
