found the build sheet to the car
so today i got to ripping out the interior of the car. floors look really good. little rust, drivers side had a good amount because the windshield leaks, but yea here are the pics
i por15'd the floors where there was rust
tomorrow comes getting a new carpet cause mine was all faded and discolored, and then putting the interior all back in.

I love a good looking berlinetta. There needs to be more people on this forum that have them because they look mean when they're done correctly. I think that would look great. I like the "slots" that you photoshopped out, though... I say keep them. I honestly can't tell you the last time I saw a berlinetta, heh.

Re: my 84' camaro build. (PIC HEAVY)
just got my driveway area paved for where i work on my cars. got it pushed on and jacked up only to find out i had to have it on the ground to get the lug nuts lose.
undercarriage is really clean. whole underside is like this.
jacked up:
im also going to sell the rims and get some irocs.
here is one cleaned up.
here is the worst looking out of all of them
i also got the seals off the door openings. took off the seal rails, and drip rails too. the drip rails were covering up a good amount of rust. there was one hole. could not get a good pic of it but this is the best i could do.
there was some on the other side too but i didnt get any before pics of it. here are the after for both sides.
ill get a pic of the other side soon.

The rust in the corners of the window openings are from stress cracks. This is the reason i put SFCs on my car. The body flexes and something has to give, the weakest point is that square corner of the window opening. Odds are , they will come back if you didn't drill the end of the crack and wled it. Then put SFCs on.

Re: my 84' camaro build. (PIC HEAVY)
im not sure they are from stress cracks. the drip rails had a bunch of gunk in them and that is what caused the rust. or what i thought caused it. but i could be wrong.

Well I hope youre right. I just seen to many of these cars have those cracks and the rust starts from them. Hard tops are the worst for it. Car is coming along nice

Re: my 84' camaro build. (PIC HEAVY)
not really much of an update today. but i began to remove parts from the engine compartment and unbolt the bumper and fenders so they can come off for some engine bay clean up after the engine is removed.
i also have to strip the entire passenger quarter. the paint is crackled all over and there were signs of rust leaking out all over it.
i also found some rust. here on the rear quarter in front of the wheel:
and some on the front passenger fender in front of the wheel:

I had a lot of the same issues with my original paint that you have when I got my car, except mine was flaking even more of the clear coat off.
One of the first things I did to the car was strip off all that down to bare metal. No way I was going to risk putting any decent paint over that. Lot of good work going on with yours! Keep rocking it!

Re: my 84' camaro build. (PIC HEAVY)
nothing really happening with the berli at the time but i picked these two iroc rims up from someone for 50. 1 good tire, other one is slashed. im going to strip the paint off then plasti-dip them black or gunmetal with metallic in either one. then im going to look for two fronts i can ****** up.

A lot of hard work ahead to restore them but it's a good score. Just went through this with a set I got from a member here. About 5 hours a wheel to strip sand and polish them.

what did you use to strip them

Re: my 84' camaro build. (PIC HEAVY)
Avaiation stripper13 bux a quart at advance. Home paint job will disintigrate, powder coat will melt but you'll have to do some scraping. You can get an orbital sander on the face of m,ost of that wheel for polishing, but hand sand the 3 final stages. Start with 220, then 400,600,800 final. Polish with mothers mag and aluminum polish and they will look stunning. Pics do no justice

not much progress, i got it running but only from a cup of gas. the fuel lines are clogged so i need to drop the gas tank and clean it out along with replacing the lines. runs great though. like it was started the other day, not 17 years haha.

Re: my 84' camaro build. (PIC HEAVY)
plans are to drop in a 355 ci carbed engine pushing up to 500 hp, or around there, 700r4 trans with shift kit, hawks 5 inch spoiler, 2 inch lowering springs, tubular suspension, gold 16x8 iroc rims, white paint job with black accents, amber delete tail lights, and to fix that ugly front bumper. but this will probably not be done or even started on the major stuff for another year or so, since i have no money to start the build yet
