It's actually not that big. I believe they were made for 3rd gens, it had a picture of a 3rd gen firebird on the top of the package.. It's roughly 2.5' by 2'

If you do not KNOW how to install automotive grade decal sheets, do not even try.
Signs (from vinyl to vehicle graphics to billboards to neon) are my thing. For 7 years. I don't think twice about those things. BUT big hood decals like that are another thing entirely......
I've done that exact 'bird on a 2nd gen TA. It is NOT easy & I was sweating the WHOLE TIME. I learned a LOT doing that one. Would do another one, but the install price I'd charge would reflect it too.
Sure....It was "only $40". But if you screw it up, what are you willing to pay for another one? Plus the install of decal #2? Because I know after trying to do #1, you wouldn't wanna try #2.
Take it to a body shop & have it installed. Trust me on this one!

Typical sign vinyl is WAY easier than the autommotive grade, thin, printed decals, that those things are. Interview the graphics shop. If they haven't done that type before, keep shopping. Or get a GUARANTEE (in writing) that they'll buy you another one, if they screw this one up (and that includes air bubbles/wrinkles, etc.).

They've done all of our work trucks, and about 85% of the trucks that have graphics around town.. They do a really nice job..

I think a 1981 Turbo T/A hood bird charcoal, red or maybe blue (it depends on the color of the graphics or interior) would look much better on that Turbo hood.

Usually those graphics come with a protective application tape over the graphic so that it does not get scratched during the install.
There is an application fluid you can buy that you spray on the surface, then squeegee the decal down after you have it in position. You can also use soap and water, but it'll take forever to dry, especially if it's not a hot summer day.
You can do a dry method install, where you place the decal into position, put a line of masking take down the middle and remove the protective backing on one side, squeegee and gently roll the decal down into place. Then you do the second half of the decal the same way.
I've installed quite a few hood scoop decals for local guys around here,so kinda developed a knack for it.

A friend of mine put that same decal on his 1979 firebird, it was way too small for the car... Unfortunately I think the same when I look at those pics, I think the original one from the 70's trans ams look better, they were much bigger than that one. Just my opinion.
