Well I saw some people on here use wagner power painters to paint their car so I thought Id try it out for myself. Im quite happy with the results of the paint. It still needs another coat of clear, some buffing and wetsanding but this is what it looks like so far. Not too bad if you ask me.
What was the budget? Did you use rustoleum or actual auto paint(hopeing you went with auto paint?) The car, especially in the first pic just by looking at the hood, almost looks like it was done by rattle can. Sorry to say, maybe after another clearcoat and wetsanded/buffed it'll look better.
Well the reason the hood looks the way it is, is beccause it was alreayd crappy to begin with and had dings in it which didnt work out well when I tried to smooth it. I got a TA hood im gonna paint and put on it though.
I havent buffed it, wetsanded it or polished it. This pic was taken the day after the last coat of paint I put on it. And like I said this was ment to be a budget paint job so I have a single color car for the time being. I wasnt about to spend a few hundred on a paintjob for a car I bought for $1000 and got in a minor wreak. besides Im in the process of getting parts to convert the body to a trans am.
BTW: Does anyone know where I could find plastic T-tops for this car? Ive heard you can get replacement for the glass tops but I cant seem to find any on google.
Hey it looks good. I used that duplicolor stuff to paint my shop truck, but I used the blue. Your not going to get a real glossy shine from it, even with the clear, it's lacquer paint which means it will be kinda dull. It sprays easy and makes for a good solid color paint. The clear is alittle thin, but if you put enough on it'll rub out pretty nice.

You could find the lexon t tops here for sale search i now someone from here that had some for sale they are from a camaro not sure if it would work on a firebird
I think it looks great I'm always amazed at how good these paint jobs come out with wagner painter, and rustoleum. I'm thinking about trying it out on my cherokee, I dont need to do it to my camaro cause I just spent a small fortune to have it repainted lol
I think you've done a great job.
I agree about the need for another coat of clear on the hood, but if you've got another then all is good.
Not diggin' the stripe on the back personally. Nice looking ride though dude.
Great work.
Thanks for the comppliments, like I said its just a cheapo paintjob to get by till I can afford a good paintjob. Rather spend 80 bucks on paint and have a decent single color car than having mismatched colored hoods and bumpers. I recently got the trans am fenders on the car that I planned on putting on. I was kinda in a hurry so i gave the fenders a quick spray, probably will need another caot or 2.
