Well i used to have an 87 Sport Coupe camaro with a carb'd 350 and 700R4. Mildly rebuilt, nice clean car. Had to get rid of it so that i could get something that was more reliable and i could drive further distances in. Sold the car back in 2004 and got a different vehicle. My girlfriend needed a new DD and i wanted a project car. Talked to a few friends and found out that one of them used to have an 87 TA with a mildly built motor. Went to check out the car and drove it home.
Its and 87 Trans Am with 89,xxx on the clock. Used to be a 305 TPI car but is now a 350TPI with ZZ4 heads, mild street cam, full exhaust, intake, MAF, ROH Snypers, and other odds and ends. I picked up the car for $2100. Only reason i paid so much was because the motor only has 5k miles on it and its already got plenty of mods on it.
I will keep updating this thread with the progress of the car from the day i bought it to each step of what im doing to it.
__________________ 1987 Trans Am- vortec 5.7L swap, ZZ4 Heads, ZZ4 cam, ROH Snypers, Edelbrock headers, 3" Y-pipe into 3"catback with a 80s flowmaster, 4th gen front seats
future mods- new paint, black interior, t56/ls combo, widened rear wheels, ls1 brakes, full suspension
Re: Finally got another 3rd gen... progress thread
just bought a full weatherstrip kit from Summit Racing.
I started the install yesterday and will finish this weekend. The hatch weatherstrip is going to be a chore because the hatch shocks dont work on the car...
I got the passenger side window weatherstip put on and it fits beautifully. I decided to just leave them alone and not put glue on for now because they will need to come off so the car can be painted correctly.

You know you can get new struts from Autozone for about $25 a piece right?
