Basically bought this car as a project/learning car. I have always wanted to learn how to build/modify car motors just never had the money and opportunity. Found this car and I think this will do the job. Has a 350 motor with around 27k on it which runs real nice. (will post motor pics soon). Also has a T5 transmission, headers, and a mild cam all of which I plan to learn more about. The body and paint needs some work but with a couple of washes and waxes, it seems to be ok at the moment. Always wanted a trans am and FINALLY got one! Oh and can anyone explain how to manually adjust the headlights up and down? Thanks.

To manually to the headlights up and down you just spin the knobs on the top of the motors. Nice T/A! Looks very clean.

tried that already, doesnt work? The previous owner somehow lifted and close them by pushing a latch. Any help? Thanks for the complement

nice bird! these cars are great to learn on. As far as headlight adjustment. It depends what you mean. CharcoalBird is talking about your headlight not going up and down when you flip the switch. But when they are up and you want to adjust the beam, as in higher or lower on the road, there should be torx screws INSIDE the headlight bucket and right above the silver headlight bezel. There should be one screw on the top and on the side to adjust up and down and side to side...

does the [headlight]motor make noise when you flip the switch? Or does it spin at all? If the motor spins and the headlight doesn't react, its probably some bushings in the motor that have gone bad. If theres no reaction, then it could be the headlight motors relay on the firewall...

I think the car looks great as it is, minus the bra. I like my cars like my woman, naked. Other then that its a very nice looking trans am.

Yea the light motors still make noise when I flip the switch up/down, which means the plastic gear needs replacing correct? Right now I am able to manually adjust the lights up/down thanks to a site member. And I bought the car for $3500 and so far it has been running pretty solid. The only thing I have had to replace is a PVC vavle which for me is already learning lol. I figure I will learn slowly with each repair and modification, all of which I have been able to find info on this site. Aside from that, the interior is great which I plan to eventually throw in leather T/A seats. Tint is a must too. Not selling, but thanks for the offer lol. And the bra I kinda like.

thats a great price! You might have to replace the bushings or gear from the headlight motor. Its pretty cheap. Check out Top-Down Solutions. The owner of the company is a frequent member here (I think he's a mod). So you can get help on something ALOT of people have done already...

Very nice car,welcome to the site.

Take out your headlight motors and open them up. IF the plastic gear inside is not chewed up and still good, go to Autozone, and in the HELP! section, you should find a package with 3 plastic pucks in it, the package says they are for a Ford window regulator. Buy two of those, one for each motor, and re-install them following directions you can find on this site by doing a search.

You will find that when you take them apart, if the pucks went bad, you will find lots of tiny plastic "crumbs"; if the gears still look good, then clean out the assembly and put it back together with the kit I mentioned above.

Those pucks are the linkage between the plastic gear and the metal shaft that raises/lowers the headlight assembly. Without them, the gear will just spin and the assembly won't do anything. After a few seconds, the control module on the firewall by the brake booster kills voltage to the motors.

If you need the kit I mentioned above, it costs around $7 if memory serves me right at Autozone. It's about the same as the vendors through this site, but you ain't gotta pay shipping going to Autozone!

Nice trans am, i like it, last year for that front end, and first year of the air bag. Love the 90 T/A's. Good find.

Tampa, it was on craigslist lol, and in sebring you may have seen the add. Yea the only project now is trying to find what rims would look good on this body style. The C6s look great on the 91-92 years. ANy suggestions?

i bought two new motors for mine and rebuilt the old ones now i got a back up set. new ones are a bit pricey but its going to end up being a very hard part to get in the near future. if you plan on keeping hte car headlight motors are a good investment for the future of the ride
